We have been taking our dog for a wash at Heavenly Dog about twice a month for the past year or so. We have never been overwhelmed by the customer service, but the facilities are nice enough and it was close to where we used to live. Today however, I checked their hours on Google and drove 30 minutes from our new house to give our pup a wash. When I walked in at 10:00 on the nose, the groomer was there and she said that they didn't open until 11:00. I told her that their Google listing said they opened at 10, she said that she has nothing to do with the web and that no one could help we until 11, but I could wait if I wanted. I was really surprised that she was suggesting that I wait there for an hour, but when I tried to talk to her about it, she just ignored me and went on with what she was doing.
Before I left to find another place to get a dog wash, I called the owner, Suzy, to see if there was something she could do for me. When I spoke to her, I was really taken aback at how rude she was to me. I explained that their Google listing was wrong so I drove all that way and was an hour early. She said that she has no control over her Google listing and that I should have looked at their direct website instead. I said that there must have been other people who have had this problem, and she said "No, all of my other customers have managed to figure out what time we open. You are the only person who hasn't been able to figure it out." And that "All of my customers that know to arrive at 11 also don't try to start a fight with her groomer." I was really offended at her insinuation that me looking at their Google listing for information on the business made me less intelligent than all of her other customers. And at no point did I ever raise my voice or become heated with her groomer. That comment was obviously meant as a low blow and showed a true lack of professionalism on her part.
In this day an age, I can't believe that any business owner would not understand the value of a good Google listing. As a business owner myself, I know that the business owner can edit their information at any time. But beyond that, for a business owner to more or less call one of their customers stupid because the business has been irresponsible with managing their internet presence is just unforgivable. We will not be going back to Heavenly Dogs… ever. If you are looking for a better option nearby, Pet Station on Colorado and Iliff is awesome. They are so helpful, they offer a lot more cleaning materials with every wash, and you can buy your pup a nice treat...
Read moreI have been a client of Suzy's @ Heavenly Dog since October 8,2007..... Exactly one day after I was blessed with two 11 week old beautiful blue Weimaraner puppies. I was recommended to Suzy by the Wash Park Animal Hospital, specifically by Dr Dan Berman, DVM.
All these 8+ years I have been very pleased with Suzy's dedication and great rapport with both her canine and human clients. I met with Suzy and there was an immediate connection with her and me and my pups.
First oft we enrolled Fritz and Otto in her 30 day TRAINING BOOT CAMP and these training lessons still continue whenever she walks, grooms, or boards our pups. Suzy teaches both hand and verbal commands and taught us too! I Have used Suzy for bi monthly grooming and for daily walks. As a very busy professional I absolutely rely on Suzy to exercise, train, and socialize Fritz and Otto on a reliable regular schedule.
Suzy is 100% honest, reliable, and is 100% invested in our pups welfare. sHe often offers extra tips to correct behaviors before they become bad habits. I was having trouble training my dogs to sleep on their own beds in my bedroom and not jump on our bed. During one of my vacation boarding a with Suzy she fully trained them both to sleep on their own beds, stay in the room with the door open and not pounce on our bed!!!!! That was huge and very important for us.
When I go on vacation she is in contact, often sending us funny pictures of our dogs with her own dogs and dogs of other clients. Recently my husband and I have had emergency surgeries and on short notice Suzy helped pick up the pieces, from taking care of Fritz and Otto, running them to the Vet, and further training them.
I KNOW MY DOGS ARE HAPPY to board and train with Suzy...... They literally run to her and seem very happy in her care. My mother-in-law used to call her the commanding officer since they always are at their best with her! I am very fortunate that Suzy is so great with us And that she is so talented and loving without Frtiz and...

This was our puppies was first time at Heavenly Dogs, well actually for any groomer since she’s only 5 months old. Her experience lacked a sense of empathy to the fact she’s not quite comfortable with other dogs or the whole grooming experience. The paperwork was missing any preference for having dogs together with her or a place for her grooming history. We didn’t sign her up for doggy day care and thought it was an actual appointment time. Thankfully the other dogs were pleasant, but still a scary experience for her without her people.
Our pup left with only getting a bath and barely a trim. The whole purpose of the visit was for a hair cut before warmer weather. The groomer said she didn’t tolerate the bath or blow dryer well. I’m not a dog expert, but I have watched enough behavioral videos on dogs on how to introduce them to new things. Throwing her into a foreign place with several new dogs and people is not the way. There was no personal touch or animal loving sense when she arrived. You instead had 8 other dogs at her appointment time with 3 staff members and didn’t have the resources to take that approach. Once dogs are scared, they usually stay scared of that activity. We slowly introduced her to baths at home and she loves them, even jumps in the tub.
Please consider taking a new approach, especially for new customers. Expecting dogs to act better the next time is not realistic after a bad first time. I’m not a happy customer after paying $60 for a bath and face cut. She looks silly with only her face trimmed. Please work on scheduling extra time for new clients and make it a good experience from the...
