Atlantis Water Gardens — Local services in Denville

Every hiker knows the sound… You’re walking through the woods, and you start to hear a low rumble… Your heart rate starts to rise in anticipation as you continue along your path. The rumble gets louder and louder until it becomes a dull roar… and you have reached it. The diamond in the forest, the wonderous waterfall… and for that moment in time all else falls to insignificance as you witness Nature’s majesty right before your eyes…….

I first started contemplating a water feature in my backyard for multiple reasons…. I walk my pack of 3 dogs daily through different wooden paths around my county and always try to find a place for them to cool off and be rewarded for their efforts. Sometimes it’s a river, sometimes a mucky pond loaded with frogs-eggs…. Sometimes there isn’t one to be found and we return home unfulfilled…. Secondly, I’ve been in search of a vacation property on a lake like ‘Lake George’ (Ha!) or something like “On Golden Pond”. Alas the properties that I want are far out of reach of my budget, or just have something that makes them unappealing….

I started looking for water features on the internet, which took me to Atlantis, where I admittedly spent time binge-watching all their social media posts and videos… I asked myself ‘if people build ponds and waterfalls for fish, why can’t you build one for dogs’… Then yadda, yadda, yadda…. I pulled into Atlantis Water Gardens on Rt. 10 in Denville, met with Rich, who was super friendly and knowledgeable, and and made my inquiry….

Within a few weeks we were on the books to meet the Maestro himself… Jaak Haruj. It was in March when Jaak came out to view my back yard and talk through my vision. The pool area had a beat-up aluminum fence, and there was a mostly dilapidated tree house up the hill in the woods…. But that hill! With that incline! I could see it in his eyes and could hear it in his voice that this was a job he’d be excited to do!

Subsequently, we removed the fence and the treehouse and wacked down a bunch of weeds behind the pool. I sent Jaak a picture of the cleaned up back yard area, and told him that this was his blank canvas, now he had full cart-blanche to Michaelangelo the area with his machines and team.

In June Jaak, Colby, Anthony, Boli, Joe, Joe, (and Vojtech on the camera) got started… These guys are CONSUMMATE PROFESSIONALS… they show up on time, worked their butts off through ALL SORTS of weather (without complaint!), were friendly, incredibly polite, and loved dogs! At the end of every day, they cleaned up and left the place in order…. I was amazed at how these guys could move mega ton boulders with ease to within inches of where they wanted them placed…. And they have a great time doing it! Most of all they were sweethearts, who love what they do, and who they do it with! And what’s not to Love? Jaak and Co. don’t just construct a feature, they create an atmosphere of beauty and serenity. A place where you can contemplate, meditate, be creative, or just let your troubles be washed away. There is no way you can be grumpy when you’re sitting beside a waterfall...

The project was finished at the beginning of July, and we seriously couldn’t be more satisfied! It was indeed a large investment that we contemplated at great length... but we have zero buyer’s remorse. I don’t know what I love most… my pond, my waterfall, all my big, beautiful rocks, my morning coffee or my evening cocktail by the pond, or the fact that the dogs, family, and everyone who comes to visit get SO MUCH enjoyment out of our new backyard...

So, now, we personally have Nature’s majesty right outside our door where I have already spent countless hours relaxing to the low thunder that calms me to the core…. Thank you Jaak and crew for my vacation home ‘On Jaaks Pond’….

I recently had the pleasure of working with this incredible team for the second time. In 2016, Atlantis Water Gardens built my original pond, and this time I asked them to remove a tree, relocate the pond, and expand it into something larger and more beautiful. I couldn’t be more pleased with the results!

The crew of four worked with tremendous effort, precision, and care. They were fast, accurate, and extremely clean—leaving my yard in pristine condition. The design and craftsmanship exceeded my expectations, and the entire process was smooth from start to finish.

I want to give special recognition to Colby, who was absolutely phenomenal. He not only coordinated the build-out seamlessly but also rolled up his sleeves and worked just as hard as everyone else. Colby is a gem—he’s professional, hardworking, and very easy to work with. He listened to my ideas, valued my input, and brought everything together flawlessly. He also has a natural ability to work well with his team, creating a great atmosphere of collaboration.

We have recently performed our spring cleaning service on our beautiful Pond and we were remarkably impressed by the skills and professionalism Atlantis Water Garden staff put into the work!

Special Thanks goes to Joann from the office in orchestrating the appointment and scheduling the service and Steve the technician who came out to perform the cleaning service, Steve and his crew did a superb job by taking their time in doing the job right including fertilizing all the plants adjacent the pond area, taking care all the rocks around the water fall, and realigning several lights fixtures which had recently been malfunctioning.

We were very impressed with their professional work and their level of knowledge and skills, and we are indeed extremely happy with the finished result.
