The acoustics are still off if you arent standingin just the right spots of the venue floor. As someone who has dedicated many years to becoming deeply integrated into the local metal/ punk/ alternative scene, I am also an EDM fan. I still had, for the most part, a crazy fun time with my friend and husband. However, from my many previous positive experiences at the Tak, I was disheartened to find a lack of the usual little section of seating (amount of seating often varied, which is understandable) due to already struggling to not be nervous and afraid to attend due to struggling with my mobility issues for the past year. There is nothing wrong, in my opinion, with using any sort of adaptive device, absolutely no shame. I worked with people with special needs for the last 9 years. Nonetheless, the rest of my background relating to my previous work. And even past that, the average individual in the general population will need 1 or multiple adaptive devices of varying complexities in their lifetime. In my personal situation I have to use a cane off and on when I am able to ambulate independently. I had luck on my side with how my body felt and I danced for the first time since my mobility took a nose dive about a year ago. I knew I'd pay for it later but I was deeply saddened that having no opportunity of any seating when there was plenty of space not too far back from the croud and appeared to me that even just a small chunk of foldup chairs wouldn't have been a problem to provide. It would have made the ending of my night starkly different to be able to sit down when I needed to take a break throughout the otherwise fantastic show, insteadI had to leave and walk back and forth to vehicles to take breaks for my wellbeing. Before this show I hadn't been to any genre of show at the TAK in quite some time, it has always been a pretty reliable venue for staying pretty consistent in all major aspects, other than minor adjustments necessary for each show of course. I probably should have mustered up the courage to call ahead to ask about and/or request a possible accommodation if able to be reasonable and not come at a cost or add any excessive work for any staff, as that is not acceptable expectations for myself on staff. I've always been the one to offer help, especially for set up and break down for friends bands when I was physically able. All in all my intentions of my writing here is in no way meant to be a jab at the TAK. More just a heads up for people of any health issues don't be me, especially if you've frequented the TAK like me, I remember waiting for my first show I attended when it first opened! But if you need an accommodation, going off of how Ive been treated a majority of the time while at the venue, I'm sure they would be willing to make reasonable accommodations if you reach out...
Read moreThis venue was perfect for our wedding reception. Todd was excellent to work with, he answered any questions we had right away. He was also extremely helpful with making sure the tables were all setup where we needed them and helped if we needed more or less on the day of. All our guests were welcomed with a warm smile and enthusiasm for our special day. What I really loved about this venue was the location. It had ample parking and it was not in the busy part of downtown, so it was very easy to get to for all our guests. It was great to have a full service bar and if we were wanting any type of drinks, Todd was willing to order them beforehand. We had catered in pizza for our reception, so there was a great kitchen for the caterer to setup and use, but also for us to store any food we brought in. The best part and one of the biggest reasons we picked this location was the sound system. Since this is a music venue first, the sound quality was off the charts. They had all the setup you would need, even if you are just using a Spotify playlist, to having a full on DJ. Since we got eloped prior to our reception, there was a giant projector screen that came down for us to premier our wedding video for our guests. We really wanted a fun low-key reception, and this place was a perfect match, and the price was unbeatable. I would 1000% recommend anyone else to book this venue for their next event! Thank you so much Todd for...
Read moreAfter attending my first show at Tak I was a little disappointed. It has an awesome stage and half the venue is table and chairs. I was surprised that for the artist booked that there was seating. The crowed that was drawn in wasn’t the usual demographic for their shows, so it was cool to see a wider range of audiences being reached. The pros; staff was extremely friendly, attentive and quick! Amazing stage, huge space and temperature controlled well. Location allows for addiquit parking, and the ability to purchase tickets online. Cons: The bar selections was bare minimum with little to no verity (it was an all ages show so I don’t hold this against them to much) The house lights were on for probably half of the main acts set which made it weird to be stainding near the stage. There was some rookie sound mistakes that were very noticeable during the show. Instead of having music playing before the show they had a giant screen advertiseing their venue space availability. I honestly thought we were walking into a power point demonstration. Location is some what cumbersome for anyone coming from Fargo, I think it would take quite the booking for me to...
