My family lived at The Courts in Doral for 20 years. We moved in June 2003 when the city was incorporated and fell in love with this City from the first day. Never did we imagine that 20 years later, this same city would betray us, and we would have to move away fearing for our safety and with deep sorrow and disappointment in our hearts. On February 14, 2023, an incompetent security guard in our community made a false 911 call for 3 kids walking around the community. Dispite the call being classified as a non-emergency, a police officer arrived wearing an unconventional uniform that made him seem like any random individual and in a very aggressive manner, approached, battered, and falsely arrested our son, who repeatedly told him he lived there and that he was just walking. When my husband and I came outside, this officer lied to us about what had transpired and took our son, who suffers from severe anxiety and, because of this, ended up in the hospital with tachycardia. To make a long story short, this event caused our family so much distress and trauma, and eroded our trust in this City's law enforcement that we had to move away shortly after this. We filed complaints with City officials, and a demand letter to the Police Department and have ever since tried to seek accountability for what was done to our family, but as of today, the city denies any wrongdoing, therefore, about 9 months ago we filed a lawsuit against the City for which they have hired a lawfirm to fight against us, passing these lengthy and expensive litigation costs on to their taxpayers. While looking into previous lawsuits, it was unfortunate to discover this is not the first time this has happened. It is shameful that this City would use taxpayers' funds against their own residents in order to protect themselves, cover up unlawful actions, and not hold their officers accountable, rather than prioritizing justice and transparency for...
Read moreI went to the Doral Central Park for a walk — everything was great until a strong thunderstorm with lightning started. We had to take shelter in a small hut because of the rain. As the park was nearing closing time, the rangers came and tried to force us out into the storm, speaking in a rude and arrogant manner.
We explained calmly that we wouldn’t leave until the heavy rain let up, and asked them to understand the dangerous situation. Instead of showing any empathy, they came back a second time — even more aggressively — trying to kick us out. Just five minutes later, they sent a police car to intimidate the people still taking shelter.
I truly don’t understand why they have to treat people this way and ruin the experience in such a beautiful park — a place meant for relaxation and peace. It’s unacceptable to be treated like a stray dog and forced into a downpour, especially in Florida, where lightning-related deaths are among the highest in the country.
The city seriously needs to educate and train their rangers better. Their behavior is not only unprofessional —...
