I'm afraid the manager at this store is extremely rude and dismissive. I will never go into this store again if she is there, and as a local that makes me sad and a little frustrated that she is allowed to oversee this gem of a store.

First, she was "helping" a man (50's) with a purchase. The way she talked to him was like he was a disobedient child. I honestly felt sorry for him. At one point, he said "I probably should have just done this on the computer at home like you said." Which makes me believe that she treated him so poorly he would have rather left the interaction with her and just go home with his tail between his legs. He just needed reassurance and help, not a scolding. The way she treated him, I wouldn't wish on anybody. Let alone someone's father and grandfather (he was purchasing some things for kids). Her frustration was sad to watch.

When she 'helped' me, she was walking away during the conversation. Wouldn't make eye contact. In my small talk she cut me off to bluntly ask "what's your question". Hey, I didn't really even get to that yet, but wow I thought she hated me.

I will take my reading to the library next door. The other worker in the store was all smiles and very helpful. I feel bad for her if her manager...

Can I give negative stars? My son needed a book for the next day for his high school English class. After unsuccessfully visiting and calling some bookstores in the oak brook area, I took a long shot, found this place on line and gave them a call. I was stunned to find that they actually had a copy available to purchase. It didn't take long to figure out why.

The woman that answered the phone was about as abrasive of a person I have ever spoken to. For someone in 'sales ' I found this rather curious. She was genuinely disinterested in helping me purchase this item. She interrupted me and gave me attitude mainly because I asked her to put it on hold until I arrived. It was liked I was bothering her.

I couldn't go myself so my wife dropped in right before closing. She was also met with disgust and short one word answers. If we didn't desperately need this book, she would have told her where she could cram her book.

I guessing that they had this book because no one in their right mind would voluntarily give her any business. Rest assured, we won't be returning AND I'll make sure my friends...

Bad selection at the Downers Grove location and the staff is over the top about covid and made me feel uncomfortable. As soon I walk in a lady approached me about not having a basket cuz that's how they "keep headcount" I didnt want a basket I was there for only one book but was pretty much forced to walk around with one. Then another man came in and asked the same lady for assistance. Immediately she mentioned something about his mask slipping and asked him to adjust it. I chuckled a little. Then there were signs over the store saying "only touch what you will plan on purchasing" How am I suppose to find a book I want without touching it? Overall the store felt like it was run by a bunch of Karen's lol will not be returning. I'll go to Barnes and nobles where things like this don't happen and they have a MUCH bigger selection especially with manga. Have you seen their manga section? It's...
