Orange & Brew® Bottle Shop and Tap Room — Restaurant in Downers Grove

Orange and Brew has found a home in Downers Grove! I like the grass roots, small business feel that Eric, the proprietor, has built and has always been welcoming. I really like the draft rotation as it's something new every few days. I use the Untappd app to track what's available to drink on the spot either tap or cans. I've attended a few of the brewery events where they bring their A game. It's good to speak to the rep and get a feel for what the brewery specializes in and then taste samples. The variety that O&B offers is unique in that he seems to focus on Midwest breweries that might not be in the larger liquor stores. I find the shop one of the few good meeting places in downtown Downers Grove as you can watch a game or two, order in some food and catch up with friends. Used to enjoy going to Orange & Brew when Vick is the bartender. Unfortunately, I had a bad experience with another bartender, don't know the name, but haven't gone back since.

It was on Friday afternoon about a month ago. Vic was one of the bartenders. I simply asked for a taster of a beer that I wasn't aware was over 10% and the bartender went off on me. All he had to say was that he couldn't provide a taster of that beer due to alcohol percentage, and I would have been fine with it. Instead, we ended up leaving along with another customer who saw what happened. I imagine the bartender in question was having a bad day.

My husband and I were fairly new to the craft beer scene when O&B opened. Eric is a very friendly and welcoming business owner. He is always going the extra mile to please his customers. My husband loves Irish Reds and Eric does his best to find that special beer for him. I like trying different beers. The variety of beers in the bottle shop is amazing and there are always fresh drops of the latest and greatest. I usually avoid those popular drop days though.
