When you're claustrophobic and afraid of water, this may sound like a strange thing to go into but I was curious and wanted to challenge my meditation practice. This was a lot more pleasant than an MRI. The studio is small, quiet, and soothing and the staff very calming and excellent at thoroughly explaining the process to a first timer. Everything needed was provided: private shower stall in the room with the pod, towels, makeup remover wipe, shampoo/conditioner, wash, ear plugs. There is a large bathroom in the main hall with a vanity area and hair dryer for afterward. There is a post-float lounge just through a curtain and on the other side of that curtain is the entry to the studio but the ladies were speaking very softly to maintain the intergrity of the spa atmosphere. The float experience: the pod is spacious but not as deep as I thought it would be--irrelevant, though because you are floating. The water was tepid, not as warm as a bath, though definitely comfortable. There is a light in the pod that gently changes colors, a small spray bottle of regular water if you need to get the salt water off your face, and a panic button that if you even accidently bump, a staff member will check on you to see if you need assistance. You can have silence or they offer a variety of music. I did the 60 minute float, listened to music, meditated, opened my eyes, watched the colors change on the ceiling of the shell, nearly fell asleep, listened to my own breath and heartbeat, and thoroughly enjoyed it. The biggest takeaway was coming out of it completely pain free. With 15" titanium rods in my spine and herniated cervical and lumbar disks, arthritis, and way too much time watching the news, I don't remember the last time I was pain free. It's not a cure, but definitely a therapy to include with other stress relieving measures. The only thing I would add next time is bringing my own conditioner as the salt water really rats up your hair. Overall, I could see doing this a couple of...
Read moreMy fiance and I weren't really sure what to expect but we had a very nice experience here. The people who greeted us were very nice and walked us through the entire process. They didn't rush us and made sure that all of our questions were answered. I wasn't nervous about drowning but more about feeling claustrophobic. There is a lot more room than you would expect from the water level to the top of the pod and I felt comfortable enough to close the top. They have thought of EVERYTHING for you to have a great experience. From the little packet of earplugs, makeup wipes, and qtips to the neck ring for those of us who have a lot of hair and need something to hold our neck up. I was impressed with their cleaning procedure that I witnessed waiting for my fiance to finish his shower. Not a single surface wasn't cleaned. We ended it all with a free 8 minutes in a massage compression chair. Best day off from work I've...
