Did not make reservations on a Sunday evening and were told it would be about an hour wait. The place smelled delicious, so instead of walking down the street to the competition, we decided to stick it out. Fortunately, our table was ready in only about twenty minutes.
We ordered the calamari to start. Perfectly done. Crispy outside with tender meat. The aoli was underwhelming, which is probably my only complaint about our entire evening. It tasted like standard, unflavored mayonnaise.
Two of our party ordered pizza and the other two ordered pasta. Everything was absolutely phenomenal. Pizza was executed to perfection, and it was some of the best crust I have ever had! Homemade pasta is a rare treat now days, and Alpino couldn't have done it better. I personally ordered the Grand Fir pizza, and I think the only change I would make would be the type of mushroom. It came with cimini, which were hard to detect under the other potent toppings. A shroom with more punch might have held up better. I'd pay a little extra for morels or truffles.
Dessert was a delight. We got some gelato and a cheesecake to go, both of which were large enough for a family.
Pizzeria Alpino was easily one of the best meals I have had in years. And, to top it off, it was also one of the most affordable. Appetizer, drinks, meals, and desserts only rang up to about $30 per person.
We will...
Read moreHere's a few things people need to know, it's so busy there that you need to call for reservations beforehand. However you can also get it to go just ask them, as we did they actually offered me water in a glass, which was a very very kind gesture while we waited.
Yes this place is impressive, coming from out of town we needed some place to eat and when I looked into this place I saw that they offered spaghetti and meatballs and I liked the pictures of what I saw, and the arugula salad with that lemon vinaigrette, oh man. The price is, yeah, it's going to be a little bit, but it's a small town and things are expensive these days. However after eating the spaghetti and meatballs it was well worth it in my opinion.
They do seem stressed, because they are always busy so please be kind to them as well. I would be stressed too and also it's limited seating and it's going to get loud, so if you are like me and don't like loud settings, just get it go, I promise it will be well worth it.
I was satisfied and sadly it was way better Italian than any restaurant at big city that I lived in and that shows the quality thst they offer and that's very...
Read moreMy wife and I discovered Pizzeria Alpino on a Saturday evening while spending two nights in Driggs during our cross-country adventure. What a fantastic treasure discovery it was! Regarding our Italian food "credentials," we eat a lot of it and lived extensively in Milan, Italy, New York City and San Francisco. Everything that we ate at Alpino was absolutely superb. We both ordered appetizers, entrees and also took a large pizza to go. We also split Cannoli for desert. The pastas were all hand-made and cooked perfectly, the seasoning of all dishes was flawless, the pizza crust was aromatic and delectable and the Cannoli was incredible, not too sweet like most versions. The service was perfect as well, super friendly (Paola was such a lovely person!) and efficient. We were sad that they are closed on Sundays, otherwise we absolutely would have gone back for more the next day. My only constructive criticism is that the "by-the-glass" wines could be more "correctly" poured as they were pretty frugal, particularly for the price (a contrast to the generous food portions). All in all, however, one of the best Italian meals we've had in...
