Tried the Duluth Aldi for the first time last night. Previously I had been staying in Cleveland Ohio temporarily for medical reasons and had shopped at that Aldi (on Euclid Ave) a few times. I was absolutely in love with that Aldi, with the exception of the barrage of pandhandlers I had to get through coming and going from that store. The Aldi in Duluth was slightly disappointing in that the prices seemed a bit higher and there was less of a selection. Many shelves were empty. For example I was looking for plain nonfat Greek yogurt and there was 2 containers of nonfat strawberry Greek yogurt left with two massively empty shelves where the rest of the Greek yogurt should have been. It may just be a matter of figuring out when the shelves are stocked and when it is less busy to go. I did appreciate the cleanliness of the store and it felt much safer to walk across the parking lot than the Cleveland one. Aldi overall is still a LOT cheaper than most mainstream grocery stores! I love the lack of plastic and bringing my own bags and containers. I also love the cart system. Aldi has a surprising amount of "clean" "organic" foods and decent produce. They have sprouted bread with a short list of ingredients for example, and trail mix without a lot of extra "stuff" in it. I wish there was a location closer to the bottom of the hill as it takes time and gas to get way up the hill from where I live. I would walk or bus if it were closer, and likely...
Read moreGood prices on produce and other mainstream items. Simple things like pudding, hamburger and hotdog buns, condiments, seasonings, pasta, etc. For .99 The list is endless of good value here and the food is good. A cart full of groceries that normally would be in the $150 range I make out with for around $60. It's nice to get the core fundamental food items here and then fill in the holes at the regular grocery store with more specific specialty name brand items. Aldi also offers some unique grocery items that you don't find at the main grocery stores which is nice. I'm hooked. A good strategy is to start at Aldi then fill in the...
Read moreI won't Buy fruit or produce from Aldi's any more. Spent over $6 on grapes and in less than 24 hours there was white mold all over them. I bought a bag of celery and put it in the fridge as soon as I got home and the next day every piece had black mold on it!!!! The last 4 seedless watermelons were completely full black and white seeds. I used to love their fruit and produce but after losing more than $25 on those items I won't be shopping Aldi's anymore. They have gone totally to hell. This is in reference to the Superior...
