Pernell—or “P,” as we regulars call her—has been taking care of my hair for over a year now, and I truly feel lucky to have found her when I did. Most women know that finding a good beautician is like trying to find a good bra—nearly impossible these days with so many Instagram stylists out there wanting you to wash your hair yourself before the appointment. What?

When we first met, my hair was shedding like crazy after being over-processed at another salon. P sat me down, gently walked me through what was happening, and laid out a plan to get my hair healthy again within a year. A woman's hair is her crown, so it’s traumatic hearing that it's in bad shape and that it’ll take time to see real change. The way she explained it made it easier to accept, and I just knew I'd finally found my good bra.
