I use to love this place, but I will never be coming back. Today is my friend’s birthday so we picked this place and everything turned out bad. I was very disappointed with the service and the food. We ordered the total of 5 dish, and one of them turned out wrong. We had ordered chicken teriyaki but they brought out beef bulgogi instead. So we thought that it replaced the chicken teriyaki, so we were ok with it. It is still a similar dish, just different type of meat. But we were still waiting for the last dish to come out. It is one of their popular dish, the pork wrap, but it was taking forever, so I called the server to check on it. When the server came, she was confused as to what we ordered and had us going back and forth with 2-3 other servers. One of the servers said the beef bulgogi is the one we ordered and became visibly upset when we pointed out the mistake and we told her no we didn’t order any beef bulgogi, we thought it was the chicken teriyaki that was brought out wrong but we are ok with it and I told her we even showed her a picture on the menu of the dish that we wanted. And then the server that originally took our order checked the ticket and said the chicken teriyaki is coming out soon. Because we thought that the beef bulgogi had replaced the chicken teriyaki, we started eating it, and then the server said because we already started to eat it, we would have to make another order if we wanted the pork wrap. So we are all confused and i said no no we did show you picture that was on the menu. Anyway, in the end she took it back and brought out the right dish, but we were speechless🤦🏻♀️ 😐—————each slice of pork is very thick and dark. We had order this dish a few times before and it never...
Read moreAfter being a loyal customer at Jang Su Jang for about 9 years I have decided to never go back. In my last 3 visits I have hated the way I am served by 99% of the staff, who are rude, short and seem to dread serving my family and I. My husband and I noticed that the treatment was more attentive and polite with Korean and (caucasian) customers; we are Hispanic. The last time I was there I got so annoyed at the rude and short attitude my server had I decided to ask my best friend (who happens to be Korean) for some assistance. My friend decided to call the restaurant while I was still there to communicate in Korean my complain, unfortunately she was told that there was nothing that could be done because the manager was not at the restaurant. A little after I left, I knew that the staff was aware of the complain because they were looking over and talking all gathered in a group but they all saw me walking out without even trying to question what had been wrong. After I left my friend got a call back in which the person flat out lied about the kind of service they had offer our table, promising they had been attentive when they were not. I am extremely disappointed at their staff and management and while the their food is delicious I will not be returning to a place where I do not feel welcomed for God knows what reason. My advice to the owners and management is to pay closet attention to all of your clients no matter their race because you just lost 9 year long costumers who always brought people over to your restaurant to share delicious Korean food, but thankfully we have more options in town. Feeling taken care of and welcomed goes in hand with delicious food and sometimes having okay food at a welcoming...
Read moreWe were 2 filipinos stepping into this 4.5 star rated Korean restaurant. The place boasts of relaxing and traditional ambience, none of those cheesy kpop music/videos. We ordered King Beef Stew and Banchan(was told it was refillable but more about this below) which were really good! We also ordered Yook-ge-jang described in their menu as "Spicy beef stew with vegetables and mushrooms." Yook-ge-jang was served and unfortunately our bowl had no beef! none! usually this is also served with gosari and bean sprouts but it also had none. We thought that an authentic looking ambience would reflect with what is served (Or could it be that we aren't koreans so some would assume we can't tell the difference). We were so familiar with this entree since we ordered it in other restaurants before as well and we noticed missing elements right off the bat.
Now with the Banchan, we were pleased that we had a set of banchan per head. Eventually, we were ready for a second round. I had another set of banchan but when my friend asked for hers, the (senior looking) restaurant server asked "one more?" looking unpleasantly surprised, turns her back speaking in korean and sounding displeased, after that we still had our order. Another (younger middle aged) restaurant server was alternating to attend us and she was kind and considerate.
Overall, most of our orders were tasting good except for the yook-ge-jang, one server didn't feel hospitable that day but that was our experience. With the price range in relation to quality and service, I think I would look somewhere else. Unless I am really craving for King Beef Stew I...
