Is it possible to give more than five stars? If I could, I absolutely would for the Colour Lounge AND for Alyssa. Though I don’t consider myself to be very stylish, I immediately feel classy walking into the Colour Lounge. No matter the season, the entry is always bright and welcoming. The receptionist’s smile is mirrored on my face, and there is coffee for guests (immediate winner in my book)! This place is perfect for a quick touch-up or a complete self-care day!

I cannot sing enough praises for Alyssa. When I moved to Duluth, I asked around to find a new place to cut and color my hair. The Colour Lounge was recommended to me, so I called and made an appointment. It just so happens that I ended up in Alyssa’s chair. Prior to Alyssa, only one person had ever touched my hair. I was extremely nervous to be seeing someone new! Alyssa immediately put me at ease and made sure that she understood what I wanted (mind-reading hair stylist?). The result was STUNNING! I walked out of the lounge feeling like a “million bucks.” This feeling has been replicated every time I see her. My hair looks fabulous and it is HEALTHY. Alyssa also gives the best recommendations for products and hair maintenance. I actually feel like I understand my hair. She is knowledgeable about her work and is as passionate about the people in her chair as the hair on their head. Alyssa has a gift, and I am fortunate enough to benefit from it. Need proof? If you're a bride-to-be looking for a place to be reliable and organized, skip adding more stress to your planning process and WRITE OFF the Colour Lounge. I called the Colour Lounge looking for a makeup artist for my wedding day. Initial communication was terrible; slow, disorganized, and rather unfriendly. I finally managed to schedule a trial run for my makeup, which I drove more than an hour to attend. . .and Anthony was 45 minutes late. Two weeks before my wedding day I called the salon and asked what time Anthony was scheduled to meet me and do my makeup on the big day. No one knew, even though I had told him a specific time at the trial. Two days before the wedding day I texted Anthony on the number he'd given me reminding him of my upcoming wedding day makeup appointment. No response. Then my big day arrived. Anthony was to arrive at 9am to do only my bridal makeup...at 8:30 I got a TEXT saying he couldn't make it because he was in a car accident. No phone call. No replacement makeup artist. And most importantly, no incident report found on the public records between his location and mine on that day between 8 and 9am. Don't waste your time here. Take your business somewhere else that can DELIVER, especially if it's for the most important day...

Alyssa Lovdahl has been doing my hair for at least 3 years now and literally everytime I go see her, it's effortless and I leave with my hair looking amazing. Not only do I admire Alyssa's talents and expertise when it comes to hair, I really admire her as a successful business person and her abilities to connect with clients and give them exactly what they are asking for. She has managed to juggle working full time and going to school at an early age. I can't say I know many people in their early 20's who are as successful as she is, and I appreciate her greatly for that.

Alyssa really knows what is going to look good on her clients and is always looking out for their best interest. I feel there has been so many times I give Alyssa a general idea for cut and colors and she just knows what is going to look good so I let her do her thing. I don't ever want to go to anyone else here in the Twin Ports. She's fun to hangout with, her ambition is remarkable, and the skill and talent she has for her craft is so admirable.
