I had such a terrible experience here this past week, that I will never be shopping at another TJ Maxx or any of it's affiliates. I went there on a Wednesday evening specifically looking for insulated leggings on the recommendation of someone I work with. Even though the outside temperature was literally 0 degrees, I really wanted some warmer leggings (once again, we are in the midst of Northern Minnesota winter), so I got there at 8:30, an hour before the store closed. I spent about 30 minutes looking through their leggings racks, had several pairs in my arms, and went into the fitting room at about 9. I had gotten both pairs of the pants I was wearing off (remember, it's very cold here), when I was asked to leave the fitting room area because it was "closed". When I asked why, all she could say is that the fitting area was closed. This may all seem insignificant, but this was disturbing to me. Why would a clothing store have operating hours where they don't let potential customers try on clothes? What are they even open for then? And why is there no posting on the website and doors saying this? These questions are important because I feel as if TJ Maxx has taken resources from me, the most valuable being, MY TIME. Time is precious when working a full time job and taking care of a home and a relationship. When an hour of my life is taken from someone or something with no benefits for them or myself, I will no longer gamble my time there. I most likely would have purchased something, so it was a loss on both sides. And not only was my time wasted, so was my money. I drove there, which required, heating up the car for several minutes before leaving, and leaving it running while I was in the store (if I haven't made it clear, it was very cold that night).
So to the corporation that I'm sure doesn't care, do better. Have some integrity. (You don't deserve the one star, it's just required to leave this review.)
And to people thinking about shopping at this companies stores, think twice. Some of you are able to afford higher quality products that will have much longer durability. Don't waste our earth's resources buying the low quality, cheap products that this store offers.
I will now be going to some local shop and buying something more valuable and willing to spend more money on it, all for a better...
Read moreSuch a terrible experience at TJ Maxx today. This is my favorite place to shop, so today I walked in and found way too many great items (per usual). I knew while shopping, that I had recieved a $50.00 e-gift card for my bridal shower 1 month prior. When I approached the register for check out, my total rang up to $120.00. I gave the cashier my phone to scan in the gift card and it would not go through. The cashier immediately called over what appeared to be the cashier coordinator. She tried the gift card 3 more times and could not get it to go through. She was apologetic, I could tell she felt bad, and she got on the phone with corporate. I stood in line waiting for THIRTY minutes, all for them to tell me they could do nothing about it until corporate gets around to figuring out what might have happened to the gift card. Today, I left with nothing, after spending way more time in the store than planned and was not informed when this will be figured out. I feel that there should have been an alternate way to recieve the $50.00 off of my purchase today (from a gift card I was presenting to them) and been able to leave the store with my purchases today. All in all, very disappointed in the way the situation was handled, and how the store manager didnât feel that her help was needed, when a customer had been standing there in line for...
Read moreMy mother was racially profiled by security at this location between 6:30 - 7:00 pm.
Mind you, I grew up in her care regularly visiting and purchasing from Tj Maxx.
Now come to find out that today, the 8th of August, she was casually browsing when a large-sized (looked to be about 300 lbs) white male was following her throughout the store. At first she paid him no mind but took note of his presence, then realized that he was persistently everywhere she was in the store.
She spoke to one floor staff members saying that one of their employees was following her. That employee asked if my mother would like to speak with a manager, which felt pointless to her.
Eventually my mother ended up at the checkout and at the register of the manager on duty. She reported that one of their âbig employeesâ (because there were few large-sized male staff) was following her. The manager said she âdidnât know who that wasâ, and then explained that security comes from all over. Such a response felt like a lie.
This exchange is particularly appalling because, as a manager, how do you not know who is working in your store? How do you find that to be an appropriate response to a customer expressing discomfort? How are you not condoning prejudice?
How shameful of this business and its management.
Shoppers of...
