I never, ever write these, but in this case I feel like it would be a disservice not to. Note: I am not writing regarding all of Dick's stores, just the one in Duluth.
I went to the store on 3/4/15 at about 6:45. I was greeted when I walked in the door and I headed back to the running shoes. I was looking around for a few minutes and not one person came back to ask if I needed help. Another twenty minutes go by and I finally decide on the shoes that I want, all thanks to Google! I did research on the shoes beforehand, but I wanted to see if I could get advice from someone who works there. Apparently night time is not the time to go to the store. The only employees that I saw were either high school or early college students at best. That isn't a knock against them, but let's face it, it's just a job to them; they couldn't care less. This isn't the only incident I've had with this particular store, either. I frequent the running section whenever I'm at the store and there is a guy who works there, (late 30's?) and he literally REEKS of marijuana. There's not even the slightest effort of hiding it. Thanks for the contact high!
All in all, I like the selection and I like the reward program that Dick's offers. I don't like the lack of training or the lack of helpfulness that the staff have. I will continue to shop there, but only if I can't get the item on Amazon or...
Read moreWe were at Dicks with our 2 daughters looking at finding them each a bike. One of my daughter’s is special needs and before we were going to spend several hundred dollars on 2 bikes, we were wanting to let the kids try it and see if it’s comfortable. I was holding onto the seat of a bike while my daughter was on it to try to pedal it (in no way was just riding it around the store. It was a few few to see if she could pedal it) when the employee (8/2/25 @ 5 PM) informed me that they could sit on it only. No trying it. We’ve been all over Duluth/Hermantown area trying to find the right bike for our daughters so we know not all bikes are created equal. When I told my husband we should go somewhere else, the employee inserted himself into the conversation and says “sounds good”. I said I’m not paying $200 for a bike that they can’t even try, the employee then says “it’s a department store, you can’t just ride bikes all over.” We literally had our daughter get on the bike, while I held onto the seat and she tried to pedal for maybe 5 feet. I will never step foot into Dicks again. The employees really like to live up to...
Read moreWe shop exclusively at DICKS for our teens Sports apparel, backpacks, and equipment. We came today in today with our son to find basketball shoes. Unfortunately, they didn't carry the pair he wanted in store, but Gabe was still extremely helpful. He helped size him and found a pair for him to try, even though he knew we would be purchasing online. We appreciated it very much! Consumers tend to only take time to out of their day to complain, so I wanted to take the time today to let management know what great service we received from Gabe. We will definitely be back once soccer and baseball start. Gabe, thank you so much for all your help. You sure made our day with your positive, friendliness and...
