Do not buy from La-Z-Boy! I ordered a reclining sofa, model # 330765 for $1,715.54 and so far, it has not been up to the La-Z-Boy standard, nor mine. The fabric is defective, the recliner handle is difficult to maneuver and the sofa creaks whenever there is a shift in body weight. The sofa was delivered the first week of August 2020 to my second home in Florida. I left to go back to my primary home in New York on August 19, 2020. During the first 2 weeks of use by only one person, I could tell there was an issue with the fabric. When I returned to Florida on December 21, 2020, the couch looked old and stained already. The sofa is off white, and my guess was the fabric was picking up or transferring dirt or coloration from clothing. I reached out to the store where I purchased the sofa and was put in touch with a customer service rep by the name of Luiz. I was unhappy to hear that I would have to buy a fabric defuzzer and de-fuzz my couch 4-5 times because my sofa fabric was made with 2 types of fabric that pill. The defuzzer did not work, I used the Conair defuzzer faithfully for the 2 weeks I was in my Florida home at Christmas, the dark ingrained stain was on the fabric, not pilling off, and the couch had only been used for 2 weeks, by one person. In addition, the lever to recline the couch is nearly impossible to pull and, when you shift in your seat the couch creaks like the mechanisms beneath the couch need to be oiled. Customer service has been a nightmare!! I went to the store where I had made my purchase to talk to the manager. At this point I wanted to return the couch or have it replaced. The manager explained to me that his job was to focus on sales, so he referred me to a young woman sitting to his right, Krystal LeWarne (who never looked up from her desk while I was discussing my issue with the manager). When she finally made brief eye contact with me, she handed me her card and said she would work on getting a technician to my house as soon as possible to look at the sofa because I was only in town for 2 weeks. I never heard from Krystal, I sent 3 emails asking for help. After the 3rd email, asking for the couch to be returned and refunded, I received a call from her telling me the manager would contact me. He left me a message with his phone number but said in his message he would not be there to get the call because he was going on vacation, and that I should call him back in a week. At this point, frustrated beyond frustrated, I emailed Krystal 3 times asking for the regional manager’s contact information. A day after my third email, I received an email from a Nick Ciago, the Vice President of Sales and Store Operations, La-Z-Boy Furniture Tampa Bay and SWFL. In his email, he tells me to purchase a clothes shaver and that it should only take 4 or 5 attempts at de-fuzzing my couch and that my issue will be resolved permanently… I responded to his emailing explaining that I had done all of that already and that I would like to return the couch. He responds, with one sentence, “a return is not an option.” He does not offer any other kind of option. Bad...
Read moreUpdate: After I posted my review, the store manager, Chris, contacted my mom a couple of hours later. He took my mother's concerns seriously and addressed them right away. He scheduled a delivery of a replacement couch for a few days later. The new couch arrived today, and it was exactly what we had originally expected. The colors matched, and most importantly, my mom was finally happy. In addition, the delivery person was knowledgeable and friendly. I'm very happy with how they turned this around.
I'm writing a poor review on behalf of my mother about the stress and frustration that buying a couch from this company caused her. A little over two months ago, my mother and I stopped in and spoke with a lovely saleswoman who sold us on a reclining couch. She stated it would take one month to complete the order, and after a month went by, nothing. Then, two months. My mother was annoyed to have paid a deposit for a couch that had not even shown up. She called the Clearwater Lay-Z-Boy location three times, three days in a row, and spoke with a receptionist who said the saleswoman was busy with customers and would call her back shortly. After three days, the same thing happened. On the fourth day, she finally got through after requesting to speak to the manager, and miraculously, the couch arrived at their warehouse, and they wanted to schedule a delivery. My mother scheduled the delivery. The couch arrived, and two cushions were the wrong shade; it was as if the sofa had been cut from two different dye lots. They're similar but different. Even the delivery guys noticed it and documented it. They informed us that a Lay-Z-Boy representative would contact us "tomorrow"; that was a week ago. We have received no call; what a surprise. In addition, although the delivery guys were very friendly, they plugged the couch into an extension cord and not directly into the wall outlet (easily accessible). They stated that it was okay to leave it in the extension cord. I later read the manual, and one of the first things noted is to never plug into an extension cord at risk of a fire. They were very nice but ill-informed. My mom has a mismatched expensive couch that she can't return and has had zero communication from management. I hate seeing my mom so upset; she's not the type to splurge on herself and wants something nice and comfortable for her living room. I am so disappointed in this company, and I do not recommend anyone purchasing...
Read moreI am so happy that I visited the La-Z-Boy Furniture Gallery in Clearwater, FL on 24 May 2019. I retired last July from working 36 years with the Department of the Army. After ten months of seeing if there was another city that compared with my initial stop at St. Petersburg I decided there wasn’t and am putting my roots down here. As I had only the bare minimum of furniture (sleeping bag and REI air mattress) I decided my first purchase would be the Fortune Power Recliner w/Head Rest and Lumbar. I think that if you are considering a recliner that you should go to the La-Z-Boy website, as there is a huge amount of excellent information that will help you find the perfect recliner. Armed with several color choices, my measurements (width, leg height, and sitting depth) I had a good idea of which recliner would be best for me. Mr. Rohatgi warmly greeted me and suggested four models for my consideration. He is very personable and knowledgeable. His expressed thought was that I should take my time, try out each model in all it’s settings, and then if I had questions let him know. No pressure, just good intentions. That was sage advice, as there are subtle differences between the models. To me, the Fortune model fit me like a glove. It was hard to stay awake as I was so comfortable, and when we spoke again we laughed as he told me that some customers actually do fall asleep when visiting the store. The recliners are well made, and pretty much sell themselves. Once I decided on the model and mentioned the possible colors I liked, Mr. Rohatgi showed me different color and fabric swatches. I really appreciated his design sense and felt that knowledge was very valuable. As I had pre-notified my credit card company of my approximate spending on the recliner, filling out the paper work took only a few minutes. I even bought a nice complementary side table. Purchasing the recliner and table as part of the Memorial Day sale saved me (with free delivery) about $450 dollars, which was delightful. A small downside of ordering a custom cover will be the 6 to 8 week wait for the recliner. To me it’s worth waiting for. Kudos to Mr. Rohatgi and the Clearwater store. I felt that I got a fine recliner at a great price, and was assisted each step of the buying process by a very nice man, who genuinely wanted me to get the best recliner. I whole heartily would recommend a store...
