Raved about this place. Took a friend who had never been here before. Started off with a dirty knife before we even ordered drinks. Ordered a small order of gravy and a biscuit on the side. Received gravy on the side and an open face biscuit saturated in butter and chopped up sausage on it. The girl sat there watching me scrape the sausage off and even asked me why. I told her what I ordered and she insisted that is how they make it. I have ALWAYS gotten a bowl of gravy and a biscuit on the side. She then proceeds to tell me the waitress misunderstood but did not offer to take it back and make it right. I ate half of the biscuit after scarping all the sausage off. It went in the trash and I paid for it.I ordered hard cooked scrambled egg whites and that did not happen either but I ate them. I will not recommend this place not will I return. UPDATE In response to you, When you asked me why I was scraping the sausage off the biscuit and I told you why, you then said to me that was how your biscuits and gravy was made and that is how I have ALWAYS gotten it I ordered biscuits and gravy. I then told you, No I ask for biscuit and a small bowl of gravy. You then told me I have NEVER gotten biscuits and gravy that way before and then you blamed me for the mistake AND then blamed the waitress for her mistake. So I just continued to scrape the sausage off and eat the top half of the biscuit with the bowl of gravy. I was not going to say anything to you about the eggs because I was not going to listen to another excuse as to why my eggs did not get cooked the way I asked AND as I stated above i ate them and paid for EVERYTHING that I ordered even though it was wrong. And this is really very simple. I will not put foot in your restaurant again nor will I suggest your restaurant to...
Read moreI've been there several times. The staff is always friendly. They didn't blink when I told them I can't sit at the tall bar tables due to a back problem. The layout is still similar to when it was a Bar Louise, so the comfortable semi-circle booths are still there. I've had several things from their menu, mostly breakfast. The food is very tasty. Portions are generous and everything I've had has been cooked well. I give 4/5 stars because I would like to see some smaller, maybe a la carte options for when I'm not interested in a gigantic meal or when I need something simple. I love, love their pancakes. I love that you can order an omelet with 1, 2 or 3 eggs. But it's still a lot of food. I went with family when I wasn't feeling very hungry. Would have loved something like a good oatmeal with fruit or granola/yogurt etc. They have nothing like that for breakfast. I just got an English muffin and fruit - the fruit was OK but not worth it. They cook almost entirely from scratch, they have options like turkey sausage and lots of veggies for those omelets. If you're ready to indulge - pancakes the size of dinner plates. A word of advice. If you order something that comes with a mini maple-bacon cream puff - eat it first. You'll be too full to enjoy it if you wait until the end of your meal. Also, they can get a little soggy if they sit on steaming food - which is a shame because they are delish. I wish they would have raw sugar available for coffee but you can't have it all. I'll keep going back. Not many places in the area that serve such a good breakfast all day long and keep the quality consistent. Parking is a challenge - but that's true for all of the restaurants in that corner of the mall. Definitely...
Read moreThis is our second time enjoying the Bacon Street Diner, the first was 12 months ago. I say this, because I can't believe my wife and I waited a year to comeback. The food is wonderful, a year ago, I had the Western Bacon Burger, and it was outstanding! My wife had the Mighty Chicken Sandwich, and said it was the best she has had in a very long time. Then life kicked in and it took us a year to get back (we only live in St. Pete, I know... it is sad).
Anyhow, let's get to last night. My wife and I were once again in the area and quickly found our way to Bacon Street, and boy are we glad. We sat at the bar, where Zeke took care of us. I order an Old Fashion and my wife had a Chardonnay. We ordered a side of Bacon Slaw (Awesome!), it had a perfect coleslaw taste but better (BACON!). Zeke talked about the specials (very good selection, but I focused on the Pastrami special, and I'm glad I did. My wife chose the Bacon Grilled Cheese Club, and said it was simply the best she has ever had. The portion size is large (we took half of it home that evening... it didn't last long once we arrived home, and she said, it even taste better). Finally, we ordered the Apple Crumble Pie to go. We had that this morning, what a wonderful way to start your morning.
Bottom Line: I highly recommend Bacon Street Diner, my wife and I won't wait so long to come back either, I'm looking forward to making a special trip to try their breakfast menu, it looked just wonderful.
One other thing. I noticed that most of the staff working were there a year ago. That says something else as well. That says the restaurant is managed well and you can tell. Good on ya,...
