Let me start by saying I really only leave negative reviews if I feel I’ve been completely slighted…. I went through the drive thru for a single Wisconsin buttery burger, definitely my fav and has been for years, so it’s not like I don’t know what I’m ordering. I order from this SnS often too, as it’s right on my way home from work. I realized once I got home, the bottom of the Togo bag was completely saturated… first red flag. Then I open up the bag to see the burger box is soaking and dripping. Disgusting. Once I opened up the actual burger, the thing is literally swimming in butter, I kid you not. It smells horrid. It looked like someone played a prank on me, and wanted to see just how far they could go with making a foul, disgusting, sloppy, melting-in-grease burger, just for me… naturally, I call and get the manager Camila B who then tells me, really there is nothing she can do as this is how the wisconsin buttery burgers come now, and this is a new corporate change as of a week ago… I questioned her because it literally doesn’t make sense how they could let something that disgusting go out the window… At what point do you use common sense and realize people aren’t going to eat something as foul as that? I wasted $11 on slop. Camila offered for me to come back and they could remake another burger for me.. that doesn’t help when I’m already home, and want the same burger. How about using discretion and either A.) advise the customer “corporate wants us to give you coronary artery disease with all this butter” or B.) use your critical thinking skills and maybe not saturate a burger to even remotely half of the amount of butter/oil used. It’s a little disrespectful to hear “well that’s how corporate wants us to do it, we’ve had a few other people call to complain as well” that doesn’t sit well with me. I asked for a credit the next time I come through. Camila wasn’t rude, she just didn’t really seem to get it. If I was the manager, I’d make a judgment call and tell my cooks to not put that incredible amount of butter on the burgers to save myself the angry customers reviews, and waste of ingredients because I promise you… nobody will eat this. If what Camila says is true, this is how SteakNShake now makes their Wisconsin buttery burger moving forward, I will not be back, and neither will a lot of customers.

This place was clean. At least at the time of my visit. I ordered chicken tenders, see pictures. The size was as small as McDonald's nuggets. I called the waitress to provide my feedback she wouldn't even make eye contact with me. Abruptly stating I'll get you a manager. The Manager never showed up to our table even after multiple requests. Moments later he send us free children tenders without even taking the time to talk to us. I returned their tenders to them since all I wanted was complementing him on how clean the place was and how my order shouldn't have left the kitchen since the quality of the product was below standards. However, it seems that manager didn’t care about his or her customers experience or feedback. Dear manager based on what I do for a living, I can tell you that usually business owners would pay to listen to my advise. All I wanted was providing you with a constructive feedback that will eventually better your business and increase your local customers. Eventually will increase your repeated customers. Companies are paying for customers feedback. Throwing free chicken tenders at issues doesn't solve anything rather it makes the customer disrespected. Attitude is very important when operating a business.

We decided on dinner at Steak 'n Shake for dinner tonight. My wife and I haven't eaten there since before the whole covid thing. As usual everything was very delicious. I had the double steak burger with bacon and she had a triple steak burger. The cup of chili I had was also delicious. The problem is with their whole new ordering system. They have touch screens at the counter that you order from. There's a screen that pops up at the end of your order and asks how much you would like to tip. We both used to work in the restaurant industry so usually leave a pretty decent tip. I found it odd that I had to order the food myself. Imagine my surprise when they called my wife's name over the intercom system and said that our shakes were ready. You have to walk up and get your food at the counter now. When our meal was ready, they also called the name and we had the schlep everything back to the table ourselves. They really have balls asking for a tip when no one does anything except cook and place food on trays. It's a real joy to bus your own tables after you're done with your meal. We will definitely go back but I'm going to think twice about leaving a tip.

Bad experience. After school a friend and I headed here for some milkshakes and fries. Arrived about 7:15. We were seated right away in a clean booth. 20 mins later we had yet to be acknowledged, meanwhile a table of teenage boys right near us had both come in and already had their orders taken and received water. My friend and I were shocked, it felt like we were being purposefully ignored, but I am very understanding and patient and I said let's wait a few more minutes before we say something. Nothing happens, once again about 4 different servers pass our table and don't acknowledge us. So my friend grabs a guy who happened to be walking by and explained the situation. Nice man named Chris. He immediately grabbed us a waitress and she quickly (very much in a rush, not rude but not friendly) took our orders . Two waters, two shakes and two large fries. Fast forward to half an hour later. We have not seen our waitress once, we have not received our waters. It was about 8:15 now. We have been there for about an hour with only talking to our waitress once and not even given our waters. A sweet older woman brings us our shakes from the kitchen, she apologizes for the wait, goes and grabs us spoons and is very lovely and friendly. Chris comes by and asks if we need anything else. My friend asks for waters and he immediately gets them for us. Our waitress appears for .5 seconds to drop off the fries and then disappears, not even asking if we needed anything. My friend has to go to another table to hunt down some ketchup. We eat pretty fast, after being starving after school and just wanting a snack to hold us over until we got home turned into an ordeal. Then we proceed to sit there being once again ignored, with our empty waters, plates stacked and milkshakes empty for another half hour. Finally close to 8:45 out waitress finally appears to give us the check and say "your patience is appreciated " Meanwhile the table of 4 teenage boys has come and gone, ordering actual food, and we are still there not even getting water refills. We go up and pay, and we insist that Chris comes to the front so we can tip him in person . Somehow this was a huge issue to find him or something because our request has to be repeated at least two times to the same girl behind the counter. He comes up, we thank him and tip him and leave. Meanwhile a family that leaves at the same time of us has come in at 8:15, got their meals, paid and was out same time as us. As someone in the service industry I understand that sometimes there are busy situations and problems that arise but the way this was handled was completely unprofessional. A manager should've come out and apologized, our ticket should've been voided and the meal should've been free, or the waitress should have at least come to check on us once. I was very excited when I learned there was a steak and shake right near my school because when we get out at 7 at night it's a nice treat before driving home, but this was a nightmare experience for less than 20 dollars worth of food. I have never felt so invisible nor ignored at a restaurant that wasn't...

What can I say other than this is the worst burger joint I have ever visited but I keep going back expecting a change for the better...for about 15 years now!!!!!. Why, well I like the shakes...but, I always order them without a cherry...and they ALWAYS add the cherry and the cherry juice and then scoop out the cherry and hand it back, cherry juice and all. I usually tell the order taker, "No Cherry" at least 5 times and get that stare and frown as to why I am repeating myself. OK, I get it, they say...but..the Cherry arrives......Oh, that is just the beginning. The grill area, is the filthiest floor ever! Old burger buns, grease, more grease, dust, slop and who knows what else provides a kind of "server skating area" where they can slide and glide and slip and fall. Every once in a while, a new bunch of managers show up and make things work better for a shift or two and then...poor service, poor food prep, poor order fulfillment, poor waitstaff return to ask about the food etc...This place, really is more of an attraction for would be restaurant workers to understand what not to do ever in a restaurant. How is this place even open? OK, I still go back, like a madman thinking it will change. But, I am sorry to say, it never does. I always tip well because I feel so sorry for the waitstaff...they try to be nice, most are just young people trying to earn a buck and have ended up in a place with lousy management, lousy leadership and lousy, or no accountability by the bosses. I just cannot understand how this continues. I have called the management and spent time on the phone with the customer service rep and they say, "a manager will call you," and "sorry." Managers never call and if they were really sorry they would help the poor help , get some leadership, establish a clean as you go routine for the prep floor area, teach simple and basic customer service to the young people trying to make a living and please teach someone, anyone, how to NOT put cherries on a milkshake ... Or, to just follow the order...Sorry for all who work there..oh I do love the burgers...
