I have a service contract that is renewed yearly with the Geek Squad at Best Buy. I brought my laptop in because it would not charge. The charging port had become dislodged and could not be used. Best Buy had my computer for two months with just one update;my laptop had been sent out for the repair. After ten weeks I received an email that it was being sent back to the store. When they received it back at the store, I received a phone call that it was ready for pick up, but it was unable to be repaired. I was told they don't make the part anymore and they couldn't fix it. So they had it for ten weeks, and it couldn't be repaired. I was offered to buy a new computer with % off. I contemplated it since this laptop is eight years old. However, I brought the laptop to a small computer repair person who was able to repair the charging port by putting in a new one, and I had my laptop back in two days. I asked him if he had a spare part laying around, as I was told by the biggest computer repair in the state that they don't make this part anymore. This repair guy said, "no, it's a $25 part, I ordered it and put it in."
