Would never buy again--especially online, sight unseen.
I reached out to Steinmetz through their website contact form due to the issues with my order, and have received no response after four business days. The lack of customer care or even the curtesy to respond makes them a definitive "nope" in my book.
Purchased three sets of five uncirculated modern Lincoln rolls, as well as three old circulated rolls of Lincoln cents.
The OBW rolls arrived separated in groups of five, but they were mixed together and the five that were labeled were marked with the wrong date/mint. Furthermore, there were five end-to-end rolls with no date or label, mixed throughout. I paid for unopened rolls and got mystery rolls that, due to the carelessness and lack of response from this company had to be opened, effectively reducing their value if I wanted to sell them off years down the road. I also received an incorrect roll that, while the cost difference was marginal, will lead me to having to buy a replacement roll somewhere else, effectively paying shipping again.
As for the circulated rolls, all three were rubbish with many unreadable dates and mintmarks that required using a 60x loupe to even tell what they are. These are cull coins that the shop knows they can't sell to collectors, and they know I can't either. Instead, they slipped them into rolls and marketed it for sale as a specific date/mint knowing they aren't worth anything to their own customers. Of the 150 coins, 29 are in nigh-unsellable condition. I'd be lucky to sell half in pre-made starter albums. The other 15 are literally useless (see example photos, taken through 60x...
Read moreNever in all my all years of visiting coin shops have I seen a location as messy and poorly run as this one. There are books of coins untidily stacked up, and there is garbage and empty boxes everywhere. There was no counter space to review the bullion I was selling. They had to count and weigh the bullion by placing it ON TOP of the garbage on the counter. They didn’t even take a moment to move stuff aside to create an open space to conduct business. Never have a seen a coin store with such a complete failure to maintain basic optics. It looks like an episode from that tv show, Hoarders. Seriously, the place looks like a small breeze will completely tip over everything. And the owner is rude. He was trying to send me away and didn’t answer any of my basic questions about a couple of bullion numismatic coins I was looking for. Unpleasant and undeserving of any future business from me. I only agreed to complete the transaction because at least they offer...
Read moreAVOID!! rude, place is a dump, treats you like a criminal, prices are way marked up. you have to almost go through air port security to get into this place just to be insulted. there are so many better coin shops in the area that will treat you like not only a customer, but a human and be grateful to do business with you. i was prepared to pay up to 2,500. for the item i wanted, cash in hand, and he had it(with a 400. mark up). but his attitude and treatment towards me cost him...
