I was so excited to see "Fiddler on the Roof " at the Dutch Apple Dinner Theater! The entire experience certainly did NOT disappoint! The venue is very easy to find, free parking with handicapped spaces available. Upon entering the theater, everything is clearly marked, the Gift Shop, bathrooms, etc. When I ordered the tickets they gave me the option of mailing the tickets or picking them up at the Box Office. I chose to pick them up at the Box Office which was quick and easy. The staff is very polite and accommodating. When I called to make reservations I told them I was handicapped and they selected a table that made it very easy for me to get to. The meal is buffet style, one section being the hot food items the other for the salad bar. The food items are clearly marked, disquinlishing vegetarian items with a "V." A children's menu is also available. It was very clever naming the alcoholic drinks after the songs in play, like Tradition and Sunrise Sunset. The staff was quick to help me manage my walker and plates. The food was hot and delicious. The desserts were incredible, and ice cream bar amazing with every item clearly marked. Coffee, tea, water were readily available, all other drinks were an extra fee. The play was fantastic the actors were top notch matching their roles perfectly. I do believe there is not a bad seat in the entire theater. You don't have to worry about seeing around the person in front of you. There is a 15 minute intermission which is enough time to go to the bathroom or grab another drink. Over all, I was very pleased with my experience, don't think I would change a thing! Definitely make the Dutch Apple Dinner Theater a TRADITION every time you come...
Read moreMy children and I attended this I went off of some reviews. It was my daughter’s birthday, her 14th birthday to be exact and she wanted to see a show with dinner. I couldn’t think of anything and this was recommended to me. I must say it was an absolute amazing experience. Every part of it was so professional. The staff was amazing, very attentive to the tables, although it was a packed theater. I would highly recommend this place to anyone that is looking for very affordable rates a great show and great food. The food was pretty good for being Buffay style. I love the fact that we were able to get more food. I think the price point is amazing, especially for children. We are really looking forward to going back for future events. The staff was even so kind because it was my daughters birthday so we went as a family. The gift shop gave my son who is to a little teddy bear. My daughter really enjoyed everything about the performance. It was probably in her words the best birthday ever my only recommendation would be if you were a family like mine, and you like to scrapbook or make a memory book. Be sure to get Hard tickets and you get them right at will call we did purchase hard tickets and it took two seconds to get the tickets I called ahead of time and she had the tickets printed ready to go. If you don’t purchase hardcopy tickets are just gonna be available on your phone so I purchased hardcopy tickets and that would be the only recommendation that I would. For the price point per person I use my children my ticket was $80 again I feel that’s a very fair price with the food being Buffay and the kids tickets were...
Read moreThis is a dinner show so there was a meal time about 1 1/2 hour before the show starts. The total time for the dinner and the show is about 4 1/2 hours long. The buffet style meal was just mediocre but the dessert lineup was pretty good, including the irresistible Shoofly Pie and my favorite pecan pie.
The shows got sold out early all the time so were pretty lucky got the seats right in the middle with perfect view (B5 table in the B Section). Regrettably, due to the restrictions, could not take pictures or videos during the show. So, had to put away the phone/camera after snatched only one during the opening greeting.
Have watched the movie version twice already so was pretty familiar with the contents and even the main songs. Did not really expect the performance can match what was on the big screen made with big budget, but was pleasantly surprised.
The production design, stage arrangement, actors performance, and the singing were all top notch and almost impeccable. The biggest difference between the movie version and the state performance is that the movie can NG many times until everyone got it right, not to mention post production editing and the CG effect nowadays, but there is no second chance on the stage. Any minor mistakes in motion or singing is irrevocable. Was so impressed with the whole performance and singing almost to the level of perfection. There was one deviation from the movie plot - the additional appearances of the fiddler on the stage at several key moments - that actually made the show more lively and interactive than the movie. Really enjoyed the show so definitely give it a 5...
