Costco Wholesale — Local services in East Peoria

I’ve never been before and wanted to try it out. I’ve always been to Sam’s and have nothing to complain about just wanted to see what they had different. Great selection, great product. Now I don’t know if this is everywhere, but in this Costco it was pretty busy which is expected on a Sunday afternoon. We went through self checkout and my mother went first then I went. The lady at checkout rushed over and picked up the scanner to help us scan, which I’ve never had so it just caught me off guard there were 3 of us so I’m sure we would’ve been perfectly fine scanning stuff by ourselves. When we said we are paying separately she immediately was on alert and gave us a rather not pleasant look. I don’t know if they gave a strict code with checking out together rather than separate which I totally get but tell us rather than give us a look then continue to hover and hover and watch us the entire time we are trying to hurry for the people behind us. I have also not dealt with the weight checkout thing which made me feel dumb because it’s common sense but i accidentally took something off then the checkout freaked out and the checkout girl then continued to walk over with the no rush at all to asked us what happened. Got this fixed and then we were fine. I just was not a fan of them breathing down my neck the entire time I was checking out. I get it but you have 4 security checkpoints one on the way in one at check out when you scan the card, the weight checkout and then the exit checkers. Idk I...

12/23/2021 Edit: They didn't have a pillow in a color I wanted. One of their managers hunted down their fork-truck driver and had him get a pallet down that had a white one in it. Top tier customer service. There is a reason their stock price keeps skyrocketing. They are awesome.

When people say 'I can get it cheaper online' when shopping at other retailers, Costco is where they should be shopping.

Great prices on great products. Their 'Kirkland' brand usually meets and sometimes exceeds the top-of-the-line products. That is very likely because they have those top-of-the-line brands make products for them, make a minor change or two and put it in a Kirkland package.(I know from personal experience they do this with their diapers.)

Employees are super nice throughout the store and always help if needed. Checkout is awesome when I have kids with me as the employees are super nice to them and get them laughing and interact with them. The food court is probably the best value in town. (1/4lb hot dog and a drink for $1.50?!? That thing is like eating a full meal)

Also, their return policy is literally the best. Don't like it? Return it. Not happy with your annual subscription 11 months and 27 days into it? Refund. They do not care.

I will keep my membership until I move from the area.

Costco Peoria is about an hour drive from Springfield. Need I say with the rating that it is worth the trip! We had arranged an appointment to have a set of new tires installed on our SUV. The tire shop was ready for us and we decided to shop while the installation was completed. Christmas plants, toys, decorations and many new items were being perused by the shoppers. The store was crowded yet orderly, especially in the checkout lanes. My wife had misplaced her membership card and without missing a beat, a new card was created which earned a broad smile from her. As per usual, our tab at checkout was more than intended. We find that this the norm as we discovered items we knew came in for, yet there were so many other “tempting buys” that somehow made it into our cart. The tire store had texted us that the vehicle was ready long before we were finished with finding out what was new or interesting to us. Costco is premier shopping outlet that we enjoy visiting.
