This place doesn't deserve the 1 star that I had to give them in order to post this. I contacted PepBoys corporate office on July 20th to discuss the work that was done on my vehicle between July 15th to July 17th. I made an appointment online for Monday, July 15, 2019 at 5pm. I brought in a list of concerns that I had with my vehicle. The young lady stated that she would have most of them checked out except the transmission because she stated that Pep Boys do not handle transmission work. A few days later I got a call from Kelly she stated the issues with air conditioning, steering as well as the brakes. She stated that my brakes are not covered under my warranty and I stated that I understood. She stated that the work that was under warranty for my vehicle was $135.89 which the $100 was for the deductible and the rest was state taxes and the work for the brakes would be $856. I stated that I would go ahead and get the warranty work done at your facility which I did and that I would take my vehicle somewhere else to do the brakes and rotors. I have this conversation recorded and is attached to this email containing this letter. Upon my arrival to pick up my car I was told that the total payment for the warranty work was $159.38. I ask why is the price different than what I was told by the young lady that I spoke with and I was told she was just wrong and that they donât know how she came up with that price. So after the clerks fumbled around for a while trying to get my information to print and give me a receipt for services I was given my receipt and keys. I attempted to pull out of the parking lot and my steering wheel turned almost 180 degrees while I was trying to drive it. So I turned around parked and came back in to let them know what the car was doing. The male clerk stated to me because there wasnât a wheel alignment done. I was like I was never told about a wheel alignment and the male clerk stated the reason why wheel alignments are not done is because the customer usually refuse for it to be done. I stated to him that I was never told about a wheel alignment and stated that I recorded the call that I received from the young lady stating to me all of the work being done. I then pulled out my phone and began to play the recording. After this a female clerk stated that they would do the wheel alignment and not charge me but I would have to come back in to get it done and I stated that I made another appointment to get my brakes done and I cannot do that and that this issue needed to be fixed before I leave. They stated that they would do the work as soon they finished another vehicle. The wheel alignment was completed and I left. On 7/19/19 I brought my car into another shop for my scheduled repairs on my brakes and rotors. Once my car was placed on the lift I was called to the shop area and shown the underbody of my car. I was shown that the lower control arm was placed on my vehicle but old ball joints were attached. I let them know that it was impossible because I just got the work done. The shop owner and mechanic showed me the rusting of the ball joints and told me that they were not changed and that there was a bolt that was attached to control arm placed on my vehicle that was not a factory bolt. PepBoys was paid by my warranty company for ball joints that are not on my car as well as labor. Since then I have been getting the run around by PepBoys higher management. This company should be shutdown. I canât believe they are still in business ripping people off and putting in false claims to warranty companies.
I called again today and spoke with someone in customer relations name Mark and he stated that the store manager stated that all they did with my car was do an AC recharge and free alignment but I got a bill in my hand that stated they so call did lower control arm ball joints and compressor work and charged my warranty company over $1,400. This company needs to...
Read moreI made an appointment this morning to have four wheels and tires put on my vehicle. I spoke with a store rep twice with whom I made clear that I was bringing in four wheels, four tires, and I wanted them swapped out with the current wheels and tires on my car. We set the appointment for 8:00pm during the first conversation at 10am so I would have enough time after work to grab the tires and make it to the shop. We also discussed the fact that I wanted to have my TPMS sensors changed over to the new wheels and tires. She confirmed with a coworker that it wouldnât be a problem and even checked their inventory to see if they had new seals available for the valve stems.
I called again around 1pm to let her know that I likely wouldnât be able to make it until closer to 8:30. She told me to call and speak with âRalieghâ when I was on my way to make sure they would be able to take me. I called at 8:20 and let Raleigh know about my previous conversation and that I was on my way. Iâll add that the associate I spoke with earlier in the day CHECKED with a coworker and ensured the tire mechanic was there until 10pm. Raleigh told me the mechanic was only there until 9pm and that if I made it before 9 he could do it.
I arrived at 8:35pm and told Raliegh I was who he spoke with on the phone. He was talking to a customer on the phone who was upset about âgrease all over her steering wheel.â Raliegh had me turn my keys over to a mechanic, at which point another gentleman, who I believe was the tire mechanic, came out of the back. I explained the same thing I did during my phone conversations earlier in the day. The tire mechanic advised me that to switch out the TPMS sensors it would take 2 1/2 hours and it couldnât be done tonight. This is after loading up my car with four wheels, driving to pick up four tires, and rushing to Eastpointe from downtown Detroit to make it before âthe mechanic left at 9.â
Raliegh did everything from blame the female worker I spoke with earlier, stating she was new (even though she asked me to hold and confirmed with another employee that the information provided was correct) to implying that I should have told him over the phone (during my third conversation with a store rep about this appointment) that the TPMS sensors needed to be switched too. He assumed I would be fine with foregoing the $150 a piece sensors that were on the stock wheels. The tire mechanic even said it âtakes a long time with BMWsâ even though I advised what make my car was during all three conversations.
I highly recommend seeking other service if youâre considering repair work here. When the staff canât honor their word or the word of their coworkers over the phone, your time, money, and energy is wasted based on promises they wonât keep. Extremely...
Read morePeople who respond to auto repair visits first are ignorant no nothing of a car/truck, Any body who states their visit to a auto repair facility is horrible should give a full description of their problem and contact the service department of their complaint. In my opinion Customers always listen to somebody who is not a certified mechanic or have degree in any automotive back ground. So people, Before you speak of your problems like most americans do and complain about something you know nothing about you should always consider a second opinion from another shop. And I do mean a reputable shop not a fly by night shop ran by foreigners who do not speak english or nor understand the english language. I've been in the automotive business with much success and been working on cars and trucks for a very long time. And time and time again I hear complaints from other shops and what people think they should of done when servicing their car. The problem is like a family waiting at the hospital when a family member is under the knife and the doctor comes out and says theirs nothing we can do, Then one of the family members first instinct is too sue the hospital for malpractice when that person has no idea of what a doctor goes through and has done to save that person in the first place. Same goes for cars and trucks so people don't comment on something that does not make sense like most of the comments I read on this post. To clarify the situation, I have no relation to this company nor have I ever or will I ever. I'm tired of hearing bull crap from people who know nothing about something and try to comment or suggest that the company should of done this or that. If your a know it all then do it your self and done ask professional people questions you should already have the answer too. Like I said I have no ties to this company I'm Tired of people who comment on service work that is being done and not being done right in that case leave your car or truck broke down on the side of the road and do your self a favor wait in front of traffic until somebody runs you over so nobody has to hear your bull crap any more. Thank-You for time to comment and respond to the idiots out in the world who think they know it all and what a company should do and how to run...
