Shopping for furniture at this store. My wife spotted a sectional couch on clearance. My wife, asked if it was damaged in any way. The saleswoman said "no" it was because the "color was discontinued" (1st fib). Then the saleswoman told my wife as per her manager that another customer was interested in it. (1st lie) typical tactics in sales. Then, there was a miscommunication regarding the delivery times. Annoyed because I had moved old furniture into storage. I went to Boscov's to cancel the order. The GM and assistant manager were not available. The saleswoman had disappeared. I had called the store in the store to make sure she was there and she was. I ended up speaking with the department head with no satisfaction and was told over the phone clearance merchandise is non-returnable. (2nd lie)
Which wasn't marked on the sales tags or mentioned or discussed by the saleswoman. Today, the furniture was delivered. After the delivery people had left.
I unwrapped the couches. I discovered one of them was damaged, The wood in the back of the couch was broken. Called the store and was told that it was sold as is. Great customer service??? I will never shop at this store again. I spoke with the 800 customer service number. I explained every above and the Boscovs associate said that they would send a furniture repair person to my home to inspect the broken furniture. It was found non-reparable. I got an Email with a return authorization (RA) I wanted the reclining loveseat. Returned the couch and bought two reclining chairs with a 5-year protection plan.
L5-year plan
Covers accidental damage and stains
Easy online claims
No deductibles or hidden fees
My wife is finally satisfied. Happy wife happy life.
Now I can continue to shop at Boscov's. Thank you for your...
Read moreCame here on the highest recommendation of a friend. Visited the men's clothing area and wandered about for more than 30 min without anyone coming by or offering assistance. Both cash registers in the area were unattended.
I found a suit jacket I liked and was ready to spend hundreds more dollars on shirts and accessories.
I took my suit to a more distant register that actually had a human behind it. After waiting for three people before me, she informed me that I have a suit and needed to pay for it in the men's area "because they receive commissions and [she does not]."
I told her I had been there for an extended period of time and there is no one there. She assured me there would be and made a call to the area to make certain.
Back I went and wandered about unattended again. I continued in to the next distant register manned by a human. Again I waited for several customers before he reminded me I need to pay for it in the abandoned area from which I came.
At that moment, as my temper began to flare and I began considering throwing the product to the ground and leaving, another associate came to the man's station where he asked her if she'd help me.
She too informed me I can't pay for a suit at this register. I finally broke and informed her of my wasted afternoon trying to find assistance - in a retail store - where her only job - is to give assistance!
With a finger wagging in my face she barks that she and the older gentleman are the only two employees for the area and "We're busy!!"
I purchased the suit, she smiled and cosmetically wished me a good afternoon.
This was my first AND LAST visit to Boscovs.
I just dropped 300+ dollars at Frank's Big and Tall in East...
Read moreMy wife and I recently purchased a pass for the Boscov's Friend Helping Friends shopping sale at our local store in Eatontown NJ. We waited anxiously for the day to arrive to go on our shopping spree with all the savings promised. The day finally came and we were greeted at the door and showed our pass and started shopping. We were so disappointed to find that the prices were so high that by the time you took the discounts off the prices the entire sale was nothing more than an average sale day at Boscov's. Another problem we had with the sale was that there was one table at an entrance to the store that we passed and the employee was giving out free passes like the one that we had paid for! They also advertised refreshments which came down to water, lemonade and a few small cookies! We were glad to help to donate to the organizations but as far as ever doing the sale event again we will pass and just shop during their regular sales and get...
