The worst experience I’ve ever had buying furniture. Avoid this store at all costs. Willy the salesman and Marge the manager are the most incompetent people I have ever had the displeasure of working with.
First visit on Memorial Day weekend, Willy the sales guy was too busy eating a sandwich so did not care to answer our questions around the showroom. But apparently claimed us for his commission despite doing nothing. So Marge helps us out by completing the sale. She said we would have the furniture by July 4th.
Upon arriving home I looked at my receipt only to notice that we were given HALF the discount that they were advertising and the delivery date of 7/14.
The next day I called the store and Willy said he would correct the purchase to reflect the correct sale and email me a new receipt. During that call he said also the delivery date was going to change, great.
A week went by and no updated receipt from Willy. Called the store and got no answer so had to make the drive to the store myself. Upon arriving Willy swears he emailed it to me, but then Marge had to cancel my order and reorder it that day . Now since it was a new order after a sale week, I had to get in the back of the line waiting for the next shipment. New estimated delivery date of 7/27.
7/27 went by with no call. I attempted to call the store but as usual no on answers the phone.
I got a call on 8/1 that my furniture would be delivered on 8/5.
On delivery date , a Saturday, the delivery guys put together the furniture Once they were all done they asked me to check it and of course, 6 grey chairs and a BROWN table! After waiting 2 months the wrong order? I rejected the table telling the guys to take it back. They said they would call the warehouse and it would be delivered that Monday but to call my sales person to confirm.
I called the store and Willy now tells me I have to again wait until 8/28 for the table but he will have his manager Marge call me the following day, Sunday, as soon as they opened at 11am.
Sunday went by, no call. So I called the Fortunoff corporate number and begged them to not transfer me to the store as they weren’t helpful. I was told a regional manager would call me Monday. Monday went by, no call.
I just want my money back, come get the chairs I don’t want a cent of my money going to Willys commission or this awful store. The worst customer...
Read moreI am very pleased to share a recent experience my husband and I had at Fortunoff Backyard Store in Eatontown, NJ.
This past Saturday, we went shopping looking to purchase two chairs for an existing outdoor dining set and ended up buying a new full dining set including table, chairs, chaise lounges, and a serving cart.
My husband and I had initially visited another Fortunoff Backyard Store closer to our home where we received poor service and were quoted high prices by a sales associate who essentially ignored us expressing no interest in understanding our buying needs.
Later the same day we were at the Monmouth Mall and my husband mentioned that we were close to the Fortunoff Backyard Store in Eatontown.
Based on our earlier experience, we went to the Eatontown store with low expectations.
Walking into the store, we came across a beautiful (Florence) dining set we had seen at the other Fortunoff location and where we had inquired about the cost of the chairs.
It was then our good fortune to meet Cynthia Seary, Backyard Specialist.
Talk about a night and day experience, unlike the sales person from the other store who blew us off, Cynthia expressed an immediate interest in understanding what we were looking for.
First and foremost, she said wanted us to be happy with whatever decision we would ultimately make, and secondly, Cynthia said she would do whatever she could to make things work for us financially.
While it was late in the day and getting close to store closing time, Cynthia told us to take our time as we considered multiple items.
Smiling the entire time, Cynthia provided details about the Florence dining table that got us thinking maybe we should buy the entire set and not just two chairs.
Cynthia was warm, kind, considerate, and patient as we made our decision.
She then walked us though our payment options where via an app, we could take the entire purchase price and pay it off over 18 months with no interest and coordinated furniture delivery.
Before leaving the store, we made a point of telling Cynthia's manager, Marge (who was also great), how happy and lucky we were to having worked with Cynthia.
From our perspective, Cynthia is an asset to Fortunoff Backyard Store and based on our experience, we will certainly continue to shop at the Eatontown location and will suggest to friends to...
Read moreOur Fortunoff experience was wonderful. Beginning with John at the Lawrenceville NJ store. I called to inquire about Christmas trees. John told me his store was not selling trees this year. He recommended Fortunoffs Eatontown NJ for the largest selection. At the Eatontown store Cynthia was extremely cordial, helpful and showed us exactly what we were looking for. She made this shopping experience a joy!
Follow up problems!!! Perhaps I spoke too soon. The day before the scheduled delivery of our tree, the Fortunoff warehouse notified us that when they were loading the truck they discovered that they didn't have our tree in stock . When I contacted the Eatontown store, Debbie (who we knew from prior purchases) was most helpful. She found our tree in stock at the Freehold store. I promptly drove there and picked up the tree. Unfortunately when we went to put up the tree the next day, we found it was not Power Connect as advertised and required wiring the 3 sections together. We specifically bought this tree for the simple connection. So another drive back to Eatontown (1 hour + each way). Again Cynthia was most helpful and we wound up purchasing a different tee that had Power Connect. It is scheduled for delivery next week and I have my fingers crossed! In summary, despite the excellent attention and service we received from all the Fortunoff store personnel, communication issues from the warehouse and miscommunication in the Fortunoff system on the issue of Power Connect resulted in me driving Six hours round-trip and still hoping for my tree to arrive as scheduled. I feel bad for the employees who did everything possible, yet the corporate issues sabotoged my...
