I have to agree with John Doe. The apartment was not cleaned AT ALL when we moved in, they do have a roach issue here (YUCK!!). There is a "smokey" smell that seems to be stuck in the walls...I believe I know why, when the guy "cleans"/paints (I personally witnessed this) he is smoking in the apartments while doing these jobs. Nothing is maintained very well. I am severely disappointed in this place, as when we first met the landlord we were told this was a safe and enjoyable place to live. Also, that things would be taken care of when needed. Their maintenance guy takes random vacations, so good luck having sufficient maintenance. The whole place should go under full inspections of electrical and plumbing issues. The sliding patio door doesn't always lock, we had to keep a bar in place just for security. And issues are not handled period, not to mention landlord (and her family) are rude and hateful. Just not an acceptable place to live if you have any...

Ken Oak Apartments are horrible!! When we first moved in the manager "Cathy" lied to us about our apartment being cleaned and when we went to move in a few days later there were roaches in the cabinets and everything was in need of a scrub. To make matters worse the utilities are extremely high because the windows/doors are very old and inefficient while the walls are not well insulated. You must also pay your own water which is a minimum of $50 a month regardless of how much water you use. City Ordnance. Remember there is also no washer/dryer hookups so you must do laundry in the laundry room and it is very expensive and dirty. The apartments also have a moldy/smokey smell that DOES NOT go away. In the end watch out for the landlord "Cathy" because she will lie and do anything to get you to sign a lease. Believe me you are WAY better off just paying $50 more a month elsewhere. I've lived here for 2 yrs now, and it's a really good place to live. There's some things that need to be fixed or updated, but it's out of the control of the property manager. The old and new managers have both helped me since I moved in. The new manager is trying to improve the apartments as best as she can. It's nice and has more room than one would think.
