REFUSED SERVICE TO TWO DISABLED VETERANS WITH A SERVICE DOG!!!

I’ve been into this store many times and had great experiences. I always love the warm atmosphere, Christian music, and smiling faces…until today. I am a 100% Disabled Veteran and recently got a psychiatric service dog who travels with me everywhere. My wife, who was with me, is a 100% Disabled Veteran as well and also has a psychiatric service dog. We went into Patti’s Hallmark today to purchase birthdays cards. Our dogs were behaving exactly as a service dog should, quietly walking beside us doing their job, when the manager walked up to us and asked us what kind of service dogs they were. We told her they were psychiatric service dogs. Her response was to tell us that she didn’t think they were allowed to be in the store. When we told her that the Americans with Disabilities Act allowed it and required that they be allowed to accompany us everywhere, she kinda mumbled a little bit and asked us if they were potty trained.

Again, our dogs were behaving EXACTLY as they were supposed to. Not being disruptive, unruly, or behaving poorly at all. They were quietly laying at our feet while we were shopping. They also both had vests on with numerous patches on that say “Working Dog, Do Not Touch”, “Service Dog”, “No Talking”, “No Eye Contact”, “Do Not Pet”, etc. Any reasonable person would see that these are WORKING SERVICE DOGS…not Emotional Support Dogs…SERVICE DOGS.

Patti’s Hallmark has lost our business...

I walked in and saw the clearance section and there was a sign that said 50 % off clearance and that the red sticker was the final price. But when I looked at the stickers, they looked orange so I wasn’t sure if it was additional 50% off or not but I thought that I would ask just to make sure. And when I went up to the register there was an old gentleman with white hair and I asked him and he was so rude to me. He basically told me to “read the sign” “it says it on there” and treated me like I was stupid or if I couldn’t read. Instead of just answering my question he just sent me back to the same sign. My question wasn’t answered. Like if he would have been nice enough to just answer my question or explain it to me it would have been nice but no, he just told me to go back and read the sign… i though the store was so cute and another lady worker came by and was nice and asked if we were doing okay. I don’t think I’ll be coming back it’s doesn’t make the shopping enjoyable. So just a heads up if anyone is wanting to go in at this location....

So 10 minutes before my husband and my self were greeted with a hello and as soon as another customer went in there was an instant Hello. So does it have to deal with race or are people here in Edmond just rude because this is just not right but hey I guess people don't know how to grow up an act like an adult. If you can't greet everyone then maybe you shouldn't be working in the first place an no the store wasn't busy it was dead with only 4...
