I started working downtown Edmonds in December. I was relocating after needing a change due to a previous job, and a really destructive work environment there. I’ve fallen in love with Edmonds, and have found it very healing. This store is one of my places. The owner, is a true old school style educator. He takes incredible pride to share his collection. He is the embodiment of what I love about Edmonds. He has helped me and supported me to encourage my creativity. Building a relationship of mutual respect and support with him has been an incredible gift. Thank you for being a resource for us in Edmonds. I Can see how some might not mesh well with what they might perceive as “stand off-ish”, but I think we are used to being sold to and don’t often realize anymore when we are just welcome to explore and have wonder. I believe that this store invites you to explore, with low pressure and some may or may not like that. He is also not scared at all to shoot straight/ speak directly- which I love. This store is a place for people looking for true gemstone and beading knowledge, and are open to receiving other gems of wisdom if they are open to contributing a mutual respect and sense of awe. Sharing photos of pieces I’ve made using gemstones beads purchased here, and have created using the input and education I’ve been giving...
Read moreThe experience visiting here was absolutely incredible. From the moment I stepped in he door, the employees were kind, attentive, and super knowledgeable. They spent over an hour showing me amazing and unique pieces, telling me about processes, and how they select their gemstones. I never felt hurried or rushed, and I only realized it was half an hour after closing after leaving. Their passion for the process was infectious, and I can't wait to go back.
This is one of the last places where you can find the selection and quality of gemstones in the Seattle area, and I am so happy they are here. The price for the quality is very good, and the range of prices for gemstones offers a lot of different options. If you have a budget to meet, let them know and they can help find you pieces or substitutes that meet your needs.
Make sure you take a look at their specialized and unusual cuts and designs - including the heat fused gemstones (two-tone garnet and quartz!), Quartz fused with gold flake, and the faceted hollow quartz with loose garnet inside. I was blown away at the uniqueness and imagination of these pieces.
Thank you again for such a...
Read moreAfter reading these reviews I am rather shocked. It was late 2010 when I was fortunate enough to find Alexander's. My most wonderful ideas for heirloom-type gifts for my daughters (and close friends) and extraordinary combinations of materials came from this shop. I spent hours among the inventory. If I had a question it got answered, but the salespeople were experienced enough to go do their work, let me think it through, and make my decisions on my own. That's how I like to shop, though. Maybe because I am slow, I found that I got "checked on" every now and then and directed to something if I needed. I bemoan the fact that I no longer have access to this shop and its one-of-a-kind carved gemstone focal pieces. I loved my shopping experiences here, but I was not a fast or...
