United States Postal Service — Local services in Elgin

The post office is in Elgin, Kane county on Randall Rd. does not deserve praise. Such a website should help people, not ignore them. At 3:45 pm 01/31/25. An unpleasant woman with curly hair at the window did not accept my letter. I had a ready-made envelope with a stamp, but she did not want to accept it because she said that the mailboxes were outside. I pointed out to her that the bill was already late and needed to be sent as soon as possible. The postman who delivers mail often puts parcels in other boxes for neighbors. My neighbor brought me all the mail, but not at once because he was away from home for two weeks. .The postman has made such mistakes several dozen times over the ten years that I have lived in Elgin Kane County. He delivers mail to the wrong addresses, sometimes with important documents containing important personal data. They should be ashamed that such a large institution in the USA has a poor opinion, 2 stars on GOOGLE and 1 star on YELP. I wonder if it's because these people take drugs or they are...

I got to the counter 7 min. before closing and there was a long line. There were other people behind me so I went to the machine thinking why not help make it easier for these workers to get through the line. Unfortunately, with my luck, the machine wouldn't work and I couldn't do self-service. It was a couple minutes after 6p but the worker was still there with a line. I went up to the lady closing the gate and let her know I was here on time and was trying to use the machine, but it wouldn't work. She refused to help or even try to find out why the machine wasn't working. She said they're closed and to come back tomorrow. Didn't even bother trying to give any kind of customer service. Awful.

It's unfortunate because this is such a convenient location for me coming from work. Definitely lost my business here and won't be coming back. Sorry USPS, I suggest training your workers to try to even be an ounce helpful especially being so close to the holidays. So...

I know the reviews of this post office are hit and miss, but I swear, if you have ever dealt with ANY post office in Chicago, you can't appreciate how fabulous these people are. They are friendly, polite, they know their jobs and they are always helpful. I've lived in Elgin since 2005 and I've never had a bad experience at this post office. Yes, sometimes the lines move a bit slow, but perhaps that's because they are being helpful to every single customer. I lived in Chicago for most of my life and my experience with ANY post office in Chicago is they are angry, annoyed, don't like their jobs and don't want to be bothered with anything. This location in Elgin is the complete opposite of that at all times. The best part is whenever I send anything via Priority Mail regardless if it's local or to the west coast, it gets there in record time! Thank you Elgin West Side Post Office! You ARE...
