What else could possibly go wrong! 7/30/2015 and getting ready for my wedding day at San Francisco City Hall on 8/17/2015. After looking around, I chose a pair of pants that would work with a coat that I had purchased at Men's Warehouse about four years ago. Then, off to the shirts. Taking careful measurements, the shirts were selling at $99.50 a shirt, and you got a second shirt for 1/2 off, so two shirts were selected. A little pricy, but onward. Next, off to the bow ties... I selected two bow ties to go with the shirts and pants. Then, the sales person said, he could press it all, including the linen coat, since it was purchased at the Men's Warehouse previously. Also, the salesperson asked if I wanted a pleated seam in the pants. I said, wow… really… go for it. There was no mention at all that there would be an extra charge for these services. I waited until just under a week before the wedding day and then I called them, since I didn't hear about my clothes. The first response was, "Yes, everything is here, but I am still looking for the shirt and pants in the store." I was worried that they wouldn't show up, so I came in to pick up another pair of pants just in case mine were a no show. The sales clerk insisted that he would find another shirt and pants from another store and that they would be at the store on time. Wednesday I came in for my pressed jacket and one shirt, then proceeded to find another pleated pair of pants, again pay for one and get another 1/2 off. They didn't have another, so I paid full price for one! At least I had something to wear at my wedding. Then, I got another call, and the other pants and shirt were found and as new clothing is, they were folded and still under wraps with pins and paper collar stays. I was set for my wedding so I thought! Monday, August 17, I was up early as the quake here in the East Bay was almost right under my feet in Piedmont, So, I proceeded to iron my shirt and pants and get dressed. To my horror - neither of my new shirts fit at all. In desperation, I found another shirt in the closet and ironed that one and tried to put on the bow tie. It was 5 inches cut too long even at the size indicator which was on 17.5. I had to take a paring knife to cut a new hole to make the tie fit close enough to my collar. I went to my wedding a bit miffed and decided I was going to take the shirts back for a refund. Later that next day, I looked at the receipt and discovered they charged extra for pressing two of the lost shirts and a pair of pants for $30.00 and didn't take the charges off my receipt! Needless to say, watch out for this place, you might find charges and extra charges when you look closely at your items. I did return the two shirts and the pressing charges were credited back to my account for $142.00. As I left the store, I was asked…. "Everything o.k. now!?" I could only say yes… but in my mind, I will not shop here again and all Men's Warehouse's have lost my business. I don't write bad reviews, but this debacle was one of the worse that I have experienced and I still have a bow tie that had to be sewn up through another hole made with a paring knife for it to fit. Places like this are supposed to be a bit higher priced for the knowledge and personal attention to one's needs. I believe that the owner's need to take a serious look at who they are hiring and raise the level of personal attention up a bit. No, I am not happy. My wedding date almost was a fiasco and I won't...
Read moreIt does not seem possible that a place could stay in business with such poor customer service. I recently was in a wedding and we all had to rent a suit package through the Men's Wearhouse. I went to the Emeryville location to get fitted, when I told the guy near the front of the store who I later discovered was the "manager" just points me towards the back of the store and says someone would help me. Several of the employees just walked away when the manager asked them to get me measured for a rental. The guy who eventually measured me did not do it correctly, and when I tried on a sample suit that same day, I told him the stuff was way too big and he assured me he would order it a size smaller. Fast forward to the week of the wedding, and I got to pick up the rental. Once again I got the same service where the employees would just walk away when they found out you were there for rental business (I am guessing they get commissions on sales and don't care about rental customers). The guy who finally got my rental, tried to get me to just take it away without trying it on, but I insisted. And of course the pants were huge. The waste was three sizes too large (even after adjustment) and the inseam was also too long. I had to wait two days to get replacement pants, and they even tried to get me to pay extra for it! I called the day the replacement pants were supposed to come in and they said to check after 2:00. When I called at 2:00 I got the "manager," I said I was checking to see if my replacement pants came in and he got an attitude and said well the pants will be here when on the day and time you were told. I explained I was told to call at 2:00, and after waiting several minutes he was able to eventually confirm the pants came in. I got the replacement pants right before the wedding and luckily they fit. Went in the store a total of three (3) times, poor service each time. I had to call in the store several times, and each time I was placed on hold for longer than 10 minutes, and usually hung up and called back to get the same person who said they were just going to get back to me. I do not recall the names of staff but a "nathaniel/nate" was particularly bad.
I read some of the other comments and couldn't agree more with most of the reviewers. There is obviously a pattern of poor customer service, and the responses from management are the same each time, so clearly this is just their accepted practice. If you are considering using them for rentals for an event, be warned it will be a headache. A store like should not be...
Read moreSHORT STORY: poor customer service from one particular worker.
LONG STORY: There is bad customer service; there is terrible customer service. Then there is whatever you want to call it here at Mens Wearhouse in Emeryville. There is a particular employee (don’t know his name) but he is the most unprofessional, unhelpful person I have ever come in contact with. He should not be working a customer service job. This employee redirects you to come in another time if they are too busy, is uneducated on the process of ordering a tux and reordering certain garments that don’t fit, and will ultimately walk away from you mid conversation if he thinks you can’t be helped.
I’ve been coming to this Men’s Wearhouse for over 10 years. Some employees I recognize. Most employees at this Men’s Wearhouse, I don’t have a problem with and never have. But this ONE individual; his customer service is so appalling, I have to rate this location 1 star to warn others to STAY AWAY FROM THIS LOCATION.
I got married last year and the most stressful part of getting married was getting my tux because of this ONE employee.
I only know he works here still because I called this store for a question about tailoring and I remembered his voice when he answered the phone. The pants on my suit re now too small. I asked if they can extend the waist of my pants. He cut me off and said “It’s time to get another suit it’s been two years-” then blah blah blah I cut him off like he did me and I hung up. He had no desire to help or educate me.
So I called the San Leandro location. My question there was answered and that employee told me that yes they CAN tailor my pants to make the waist size bigger depending on the amount of material on them.
Don’t waste your time at Mens Wearhouse...
