I was able to attend the soft opening and had a really great time. It was my first Hotpot experience and I actually really enjoyed every aspect of it.
Once you are seated, you scan a QR code at the table to order which was pretty convenient as you are able to add things to your order any time without needing to flag someone down. They will either put your payment method on file once you place your order, or you can also request to pay in cash/physically within the online ordering system and not have to do that.
We didn’t have to wait very long for our food/ingredients haha - even on such a packed night at their opening!! Probably less than 5 minutes and everything was laid out on the table and the soup was bubbling and ready shortly after.
There were two of us so we got the recommended signature platter (Two soup bases, two meats, two sides, two rice/noodle and a giant veg platter) for $75 (around $100 after tax and tip) which had more than enough food for us and what I feel was also a pretty great value.
The Sichuan Base was warm and spicy, while the Mushroom Base had great umami flavor and was perfectly seasoned. I was able to feed this to a toddler, if that matters to anyone!
We tried the wagyu and Australian chuck eye, both were truly great meats but I preferred the buttery-ness of the Australian chuck eye, which was a surprise.
For our sides we ate fish tofu and South American Shrimp. These of course are incomparable as they are very different but made a great addition. I think the addition of seafood (or at least fishy flavor) was a smart balance.
Our carbs of choice were the house ramen and instant ramen (again, fed instant ramen to the toddler) but made a great addition and was very filling.
The vegetable platter was HUGE!! So many fresh ingredients and I got to try some things I never had before. There were lots of leafy greens like napa cabbage, spinach and bok choy. I cannot remember EVERYTHING but there were taro pieces, butternut squash, broccoli, corn, lots of different varieties of tofu/tofu skins, two types of mushroom and even rice cake (like the kind for tteokbokki)!! It all rounded out the meal and made it feel almost healthy hehe.
The sauce station is lowkey a dream to go through, I had fun making a really yummy sauce and I don’t think you can pick anything here that would not: A. taste delicious and B. go well together. So add to your hearts desire! Make something great to add more flavor!!
Overall, it was a fun eating experience, very fresh and delicious food, great vibes (and interior) AND super super filling. I would go here again and know that I’m gonna be stuffed by the end of...
Read moreOverall this place is pretty good. My partner and I ordered separate veggie platters because they do not offer a double veggie platter even though they offer a double meat platter. It seemed very clean, a very large dining area. There were a couple things that I would like to see some improvements on. They have menus at the front you could look through, but if you want to order food you must do so through a QR code (I know a lot of places do this but I really dislike this format. What if I have questions? The waiter did not return to follow up with us). It also doesn’t seem like you can split bills through the site when it comes time to pay, which seems like something that could be easily done if you’re gonna make customers order/pay on your phone. The sauce bar doesn’t clearly indicate if they are vegan/vegetarian sauces. The last issue I had was that the waiter came up and asked us if we wanted water, and we said yes please and put our cups closer to him. He told us it was to refill the broth and we were like oh yeah that’s also fine. I asked if the broth he was about to pour into my soup was neutral, and he said it was chicken. I quickly stopped him and said my broth was vegetarian. He then switched over to his other kettle to give me plain hot water. I think it would be best for the wait staff to ask prior to refilling the pots if the broth is vegetarian or not. And as a vegetarian, I would appreciate vegetable broth instead of water but I won’t be too picky about that.
Again, overall this place is really fun and the food was good. This was my first time experiencing hot pot, and I would definitely go again. I am leaving this review for other vegetarians, and maybe the management so they can see where improvements...
Read moreWe love Mumu Hot Pot! I was searching for hot pot spots in the East Bay Area and was surprised there weren’t as many as I expected—especially compared to the South Bay, which is packed with them. But thankfully, I stumbled upon Mumu, and it was an absolute gem of a find! 💎
First off, the vibe is fresh and modern. It’s spacious, airy, and the seats are comfy—no cramped feeling here! 🙌 What I appreciate most is that everyone gets their own personal hot pot. No sharing, no fuss! Plus, ordering is a breeze—just scan the QR code, pick what you want, and pay the same way. So convenient! 📱
They offer both combo packages and à la carte options, which was perfect for our group of four. We went for the Signature Combo (technically for two, but it’s a lot of food) and added extra fish balls, mushrooms, and steak. 🍲🥩 The broths were delicious, the veggies were super fresh (and generous!), and the meats? Bright red, thinly sliced, and they cooked in seconds. So satisfying! 🥬🍄
Of course, at the end of the day, it’s still boiled food, so don’t forget the condiment bar! 🧄🌶️ They’ve got everything—minced garlic, green onions, cilantro, and a ton of spices and hot sauces to level up your meal.
Honestly, we had a great time, and the food was top-notch. Unquestionably, we’ll be back! 🙏 Can’t wait for our next hot pot...
