Healthtopia is a fantastic Urgent Care in Encinitas. I needed somewhere I could take my wife on short notice and I didn’t want to take her to the ER or your typical Urgent Care where the wait would be hours on end. I heard of this place through a friend of mine so I thought we’d give it a shot.

I called to make an appointment and within and hour and a half, we were seen by Dr. Joy Hardison who specializes in emergency treatment. My wife needed X-Rays on her wrist as it was potentially broken(or so we thought).

While we waited for the results of the X-Ray, Dr. Hardison and other staff offered us tea from a huge tea box she had recently brought in to offer patients. This office has a very nice feel to it and the staff make you feel right at home. It also helped that my wife is British and one of the staff members is also from Britain(Lancashire if I remember correctly) so they had a nice conversation about making the transition to life in America. (My apologies but for the life of me, I can’t rememebr her name)

Anyhow, we got the results and as it turned out, her wrist wasn’t broken, thankfully. The doctor gave her a wrist brace which helped immediately and when it was all said and done I think we spent about a shade over an hour there. No time at all when you compare it to the ER.

I would recommend this place for anyone in Encinitas and the surrounding areas. Actually, I’d recommend this place for anyone in all of San Diego. Dr. Hardison was extremely professional and caring throughout the entire visit and I will certainly think of her office...

This office accepts both urgent care & primary care visits, which is incredibly convenient. The office also has a can-do vibe when it came to patient care, whereas some other urgent cares I’ve visited have seemed to look for any barrier they could find to avoid providing me with the care I needed (then still billing me). Even though this office is out-of-network for my insurance & I decided to pay out-of-pocket, the price of an appt to establish care/get a general wellness checkup/refill all my regular meds — was only $150 — this is totally worth it for me, considering this office is so conveniently located for me. They also have a monthly plan for those who self-pay that sounds very reasonable.

I was happy to learn that in addition to Allopathic (typical Western medicine) providers, they also have Naturopathic providers at this office, which is rare & an awesome way to get a complete holistic approach to your health with both these types of providers working together.

I had a really great experience establishing care with Malinda Anderson, NP (Allopathic) as my new primary care provider here. She was incredibly thorough and her presence was so calming during the whole visit. I felt totally safe talking to her about all aspects of my physical & mental health, plus she refilled my prescriptions electronically with ease.
