⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 stars isn't enough. Serranos Mexican Food in Encinitas is an absolute gem! I'm still reeling from the flavor explosion that hit my taste buds, and I'm not alone. My wife and I, and our kids are from Texas we're in town on vacation with a passion for Latin American cuisine, were thoroughly impressed. As Texans, we're spoiled with amazing Mexican food options, but Serranos brings a whole new level of authenticity to the table. From the vibrant colors to the lively music, the atmosphere is perfect for a night out with family or friends.
I've eaten here twice in the last 3 days, and I'm hooked. The customer service is top-notch...friendly, authentic, and genuine. Our server greeted us with a warm smile, made recommendations, and ensured we had everything we needed throughout our meal. The staff's attention to detail and genuine enthusiasm for the food and culture shone through in every interaction.
The environment is perfect for families, couples, and groups. The decor is lively and colorful, with vibrant artwork and lively music that adds to the energetic atmosphere. But the real magic happens in the kitchen. The quality of food is exceptional – every dish is made to order, bursting with flavor, and cooked to perfection. You can taste the authenticity in every bite.
I ordered a few dishes to share, but the three standouts for me were the Surf-n-Turf Fries, Moonlight Crunch Burrito, and mini Al Pastor tacos. The Surf-n-Turf Fries were a game-changer – crispy fries smothered in succulent shrimp, savory carne asada, and a sprinkle of fresh cilantro. The combination of textures and flavors was absolute perfection. The Moonlight Crunch Burrito was a flavor bomb, packed with tender steak, crunchy tacos and veggies, and a whole list of other wonderful foods, and a hint of spice. And those mini Al Pastor tacos? Perfectly marinated pork, grilled to perfection, and served with a side of fresh pineapple and onion. Each bite was a masterclass in balance and flavor.
What really sets Serranos apart is the love and care that goes into every dish. You can feel the passion and dedication in every bite. The chef's attention to detail and commitment to using only the freshest ingredients shines through in every dish. If you're a fan of Mexican food like us, do yourself a favor and get to Serranos. Be prepared for a culinary adventure that will leave you wanting more. We'll be back, and we'll be bringing friends. Serranos, you've earned 5 loyal customers in...
Read moreThe Food is bland, boring, and not authentic at all! Their guacamole is out of a container from CostCo and pureed into a texture of diarrhea. I tried their Chile Relleno and there was very little cheese in it and they left all the seeds inside which makes it very slimy and gross. Their Beef Enchiladas were terrible, they just boiled the beef, no taste, super bland, no flavor. I order their Al Pastor tacos which were ok, still very flavorless, and they did not even give me a little piece of pineapple with it. I have always ordered from other restaurants Al Pastor tacos and they give a little piece of pineapple in the taco. I asked the cashier if I could have a little piece of pineapple for my taco, and she charge me extra. Whatever!! They have a salsa bar to choose from, and they all taste like they are not homemade at all, but from a container. I went with 6 other people and everyone felt the same as I did, so I know it is just not me. Also a friend of mine purchased their food with a credit card, they only purchase they used on the card that day, and then they started getting various charges on their card that they did not use it for. They put a stop on the credit card with the credit card company. I am not saying the restaurant is responsible for this, but its seems...
Read moreThe food was OK but not a rave. I ordered 5 rolled Tacos and a Chile Relleno Burrito. The menu is big but it seems the items lack normal traditional ingredients. For instance my burrito came with a Chile Relleno and beans (mostly beans) . Most Mexican restaurants add rice, lettuce, and pico de Gallo standard. I inquired about Menudo but it was simply Hominy and tripe with no pata( cows foot). Overall it was convenient. The Rolled Tacos Supreme is what traditional rolled tacos used to be and were good. I added my rolled tacos toppings to my chilled Relleno so I could eat it otherwise I was going to toss it as it was so dry and mushy. Be aware what is stated on the menu are the only ingredients...
