This store has a problem with making sure you get your stuff! If the cashiers do not hand you your things (that you paid for) the next person in line can pick up your items (that you paid for) and Ebeneezer's won't help you at all. This has happened to us multiple times now, just recently lost a whole bag of chicken, A. WHOLE. BAG. OF. CHICKEN. I called customer service and "unfortunately there is nothing we can do" and also "Next time maybe you ask, did I get my things"
Okay, get this, I AM NOT PAID TO CHECK TO MAKE SURE I GOT MY THINGS THAT IS THE CASHIERS JOB! (Imagine that!). Secondly, how in the world can I keep track of that when I come with three kids? Two of which are running around. VERY disappointed to know that Ebeneezers does not care much for customers and cares more about their own bottom line. Unbelievable
**Update : It was difficult to give our favorite place to shop a 1 star review, especially since we are in multiple times a week on most occasions. However, this has helped us observe a very positive change in how bags are handled. While my last one star post was 'hot-off-the-press-emotion', this update reflects the changes I did see. The changes I observed were in the employees' behavior. On multiple occasions I was in line and noticed a double and triple-check on the grocery bags. So overall, coming here is a great experience and employees are friendly and helpful. The shelves are stocked and store is very clean. You won't leave...
Read moreI have been shopping at Ebenezer since it opened. Under their original owners, prices were great and access to organic produce was affordable. There has been at least one change in ownership to my knowledge. Ever since then, prices have slowly, but steadily risen. Now it is to the point that groceries are barely discounted at this "discount store." As someone who is blessed to live close to many discount grocery stores, I have been able to compare prices. Hornings in bethel and Myerstown consistently have better prices on identical products. One example that I have found, was the 32 count box of organic z bars. At hornings they are offering these for $3.99. at Ebenezer, the identical product from the identical supplier at the exact same time was being sold for$14.99.
I have also compared prices between Aldi, which is not a scratch and dent store, to the prices offered at Ebenezer. Regarding frozen organic veggies, Aldi is consistently cheaper.
Snack food is very slightly cheaper than retail, but the expiration date is either close at hand or at the very least much sooner than retail stores.
It's really a scam to call this a discount store. Again, as somebody who has shopped here for over 10 years, and two frequents discount stores, you are much better off going to hornings in Myerstown or bethel, or BB's in schaefferstown. Do not bother shopping at Ebenezer, you won't save money in...
Read moreI’ve gone to Ebeneezer groceries multiple times, it’s kind of hit or miss for what you can find. You have to watch the expiration dates. My last experience at the store was not a great one, so I’m probably not going to be returning. This location is out of my way so driving there is always an intentional stop. The last time I was there I had two young boys that were baggers and working check out. They had zero interaction with me at all. No ‘hello’, nothing, didn’t even look at me. Talking about personal things, parties they go to together, and when they were done ringing me up and I paid for my items, I had to wait until they were done texting so I could get my receipt to leave. I was trying to expedite the whole process by bagging myself because they were taking so long because of the talking. I’m not one to ever complain, we all have to have fun while we’re working, but this was awful. I got home, and found out at least nine items were missing from my bags. I did contact the store and they said I’d have to drive all the way back with my receipt and tell them what was missing to refund. This is too far out of my way to do that. I have other stores like this one that are closer to my home that I never have an issue with, so I will...
