DICK'S Sporting Goods — Local services in Escondido

Ordered a hat online the day before, so I could pick it up curbside in the morning. Curbside pickup starts at 8:00 am. I arrive at 8:23 am and check in. I’m waiting for a bit, so I call the store and an associate answers and said they don’t do curbside pickup till 9:00 am. I tell her I’m looking at the hours and it says curbside pickup begins at 8:00 am. She insists that it doesn’t, so I leave and call customer service. As I’m on the phone with customer service I get a text saying my order was picked up. Customer service contacts the store and the store is now saying my order is available for curbside pickup now at 8:44 am. I call the store associate back who turned me away to confront her. She begins to change her story. She said that she was the only associate in the store and wasn’t able to run the item out, but now there is another person there who can run the order out. I asked her why she didn’t say that to begin with or just ask me to wait 10-15 more minutes for another associate to arrive to run the order. Her excuse was she didn’t want to be held responsible if that person were not to come in as they were supposed to. In the end though, why did she lie about the curbside pickup start time. This store is a joke. I came here last week before opening to steam my glove, they said it needed to warm up so I walked around the store while it warmed up. 30 min later the employee told me the steamer wasn’t working that it was stuck at a certain temp. Didn’t say hey sorry for the inconvenience, nothing. I came by today. The store is a mess you can’t even walk through aisles. Then two female employees are hanging around chatting then riding through the store on some sort of rolling rack or something. I get the glove steamed (should have been free from what happened last time but whatever) and when I go to pay the girl says it’s going to be $20 when the sign says $15. I told her I’m not paying $20 it should be $15 and she said oh the signage is wrong. Well that’s not my problem. Someone should be doing their job and fix the sign that’s false advertisement. It should have also been free because we bought a glove and bat with our purchase but I’m not going to argue. Disgusting dirty unorganized store with horrible employees. No customer...

The selection is great. Good location. Maybe everyone was having a bad day. I am in no hurry to return. Every single staff member I encountered seemed put out and inconvenienced when I asked a question. I stopped looking for shoes because the gentleman told me there simply weren’t any in my size since I’m a half size. It was so obvious that he didn’t have any interest in helping me find running shoes that fit . Another employee was too focused on a cute blond mom to help me find headbands. The guy who checked me out seems like he wanted to be anywhere, but there. I tried to smile at him, but he wasn’t having it. There was one female employee (out of 5 staff members I encountered) that was nice and tried to be friendly. This particular store needs to train their staff how to be friendly and helpful to customers. I bought 3 items and was ready to spend a lot more money on summer shoes, headbands and clothing.
