Outstanding customer service! These gentlemen listen, offer suggestions and give options. I started by taking my almost 30 year old wedding set at Skeies where it was originally purchased when Skeies offered customer service and an authenticity that no longer exists there. My ring sat for a week at Skeies waiting for an estimate. When it still didn't have an estimate on the promised day, I pulled it from Skeies and took it to Art's Watch and Jewelry based on some reviews I read. Herman took a look at it, asked how many times I had to have prongs that had broken, replaced. He explained it was because the Whitehouse Bros design was a "one pour" design to give it the beautiful filagree look I love about it. He then asked if he could call me in a few hours after he consulted with his design expert on how to strengthen it without losing the look. He called back in less than 2 hours and put me on speaker to explain their plan. Then he texted me a picture to explain further! He said respectfully that it was ultimately my decision to just do another reprong or go with their suggestion. The price on the suggested rebuild was very fair. FYI just for repronging, Art's charges $25 for the first prong in repair. Skeies charges $46. I did so much jewelry business with Skeies when Naomi and Mike were there years ago. Integrity, customer service, respect and straightforward communication seemed to be second nature. That has not been my experience the last few times. I'm doing all my Eugene business with Art's Watch and Jewelry now, for as long as they are there. Thank you Gentlemen for being a class act and not the least bit snobby. Just old...
Read moreI have a Heuer watch which my wife gave me over 30 years ago. One day, the second hand started to drag the minute hand with it. I took it to Skies which normally worked on my watch. They had it two weeks. They contacted me to see if I was OK with sending it to the TAG factory (TAG bought the Heuer brand). The TAG factory had it for a month. They said the watch was too old and that the parts were obsolete. They did give me a letter saying they would give me a discount of 25% off a new TAG watch for my loyalty to the brand. I put the watch away. I started wearing another watch. One day a pin came out of the wrist band. My confidence in Skies was gone. I Goggled watch repair. Art's had excellent reviews. I went in. John (owner) put a new pin in less than five minutes. I showed him a video of my Heuer watch. He said to bring it in. The next day, I did. John had it apart in minutes. He found some debris in the shaft that the hands rode on. He cleaned and lubed. He kept it for observation for two days. He called and said it's working and keeping time! He charged me a fraction of what I was ready to pay (not enough in my opinion)! John was Art's apprentice before Art passed away. John truly knows...
Read moreI took my watch in to have links removed for a proper fit. It was clear how many links needed removed. The gentleman working resized it at the clasp instead and upon trying to put it on the spring pin broke and the watch fell to the ground. He had to drill out the old pin casing to fix it. When I got the watch back the link that needed work was poorly drilled and was very marred. Also, it seems like the parts from the original pin were just stuffed back into the oblong hole and made serviceable enough to get me out the door. The watch didn't make it 8 hours before it fell off of my wrist. Half of a split style pin crammed in one end of the link and nothing in the other. I found part of it nearby but not the whole spring pin. Then it appears the spring pin from the opposite end of the clasp was replaced with a split pin and bent into a slight U shape to keep it from wandering out. However, it did indeed wander part way out which is how I discovered it. That will be the last time I take any timepiece into Art's. I expected so much more given their stellar...
