Went to get an engagement ring initially appraised, cleaned, fitted, then reappraised.
The customer service with Skeie’s was really the main crutch of this poor review.
First off, the appraisal person was not at the store when they said, over the phone, that they personally check on the jewel being brought in with the customer so that you can make sure there are no blemishes or cracks before they begin to work on it. Second, they cleaned the ring and refitted it WITHOUT appraising it first. Shouldn’t there be a policy to not do anything with the ring until it’s been appraised? Third, this entire process took OVER A MONTH. Seriously, what jewelry store takes over a month (Reminder, in Eugene Oregon) to do a cleaning and appraisal? And that’s not mentioning the fact that they DIDN’T DO the appraisal within that month.
Their excuse? They said the receipt for the appraisal was stuck behind the cleaning receipt! Wow, what an incredible excuse....what’s that maxim about excuses again?
I forgot to include that we went to this jeweler on 3-4 separate trips. All of these appointments were set up by US. There was next to zero response from the jewelry store themselves when the cleaning was done; we had to call THEM multiple times to make sure they didn’t simply forget about us! This is how we eventually found out they never did our appraisal: they were clueless.
So the final straw is that after finding out the appraisal was not done at all we went to the store for the 4th and final time. We made absolutely sure the gemologist, who does the appraisal work, would be in the store as soon as they opened on Saturday at 10 AM. Thankfully, she was there, but the story doesn’t just end easily there. We came in wanting the appraisal done THAT VERY DAY, we were completely fed up at this point. We expected it done for free as well because of how much trouble this was for something as extremely important and valuable as an engagement ring. The appraiser was unsympathetic and tried to be humorous about this ordeal. She was nice enough to immediately comp this appraisal because she could see we weren’t in a humorous mood. She still went so far as to rudely say “look, do you want this ring appraised for free or not?” Even though WE ARE THE ONES WHO HAVE BEEN YANKED AROUND by this incompetent staff!
It is easy to presume that we will NOT be going back to Skeie’s jewelers for any of their business, even if they’re the only place around Eugene.
The ironic icing on top? The appraisal that took them over a month to work out with us? Took them less than 1 hour to do the appraisal once we came in for that 4th and final time as unsatisfied customers. When we returned to get that final appraisal the gemologist we had spoken with just under an hour ago decided to completely cold-shoulder avoid us and not even make eye contact with us and instead handed off the appraisal and receipt to a completely different employee to hand to...

If you ain’t running to Skeies at this point, then you just Delulu. You gonna regret those cheugy stuff you got from your ol’jeweler.

I ordered a watch that was listed as in stock and available for express shipping within 2 business days or for next-day pick-up in the USA. I reside internationally, but was visiting the US within a certain time frame, which is why I had purchased express shipping. Unfortunately, there was a system error, and it turned out the watch was not available and had to be special ordered. This mix-up meant I missed the opportunity to pick it up during my time in the US.
Torre Spellman, however, proved to be a true gem in customer service. Not only did she address my case promptly, but she also took it upon herself to handle the situation with utmost care. Torre ensured I was refunded for the express shipping cost and personally made the order for the watch, going the extra mile to speak with their Seiko representative.
Despite facing hurdles in their online system, Torre kept me in the loop throughout the process. I received the watch approximately a week later. While the entire resolution took about a month, the urgency and dedication displayed by Torre in managing my case left a lasting positive impression.
It's refreshing to encounter a business that values its customers and is willing to go above and beyond to rectify unforeseen issues.
