This store really lacks in customer service and support. I've experienced numerous issues with the staff not understanding how take care of their customers over the past year. Two major things have occurred (that I'll outline shortly) that have resulted in me taking my business to the Home Depot on Seneca in Eugene, or other local competitors. I will no longer be going in to this store.
Last year for Christmas I received a gift card from my mother-in-law and was having problems with redeeming it online. Some of the required numbers on the back of the card had rubbed off. So, I go to this store to see if they can do anything and I was told "You'll have to call the phone number on the back and provide them with the card number to get a new gift card issued." I was dumbfounded. I asked the the girl (and showed her the card missing some of the numbers) "how am I supposed to do that when the numbers are missing?" She grinned and said I'd have to call the number on the back and provide the card number, then proceeded to talk to me as though I'm an idiot. I worked for Home Depot in California over twenty years ago and back then we'd able to scan a gift card to verify the fund amount on it and then issue a new card, if needed. Has the big orange store changed their procedure on this, or are folks at this store not trained to take care of their customer base? So I left, chalking it up to "this person makes minimum wage, working in a hectic environment, and deals with annoying customers all day...it's not personal."
A few more visits to the store after this also resulted in poor answers, understanding, or customer service on simple things like "Where can I find X? Do you carry Y? etc."
Today was the final straw. I'm in the middle of a painting project at my house and have some leftover paint from a project I did earlier this spring...about half a gallon. I figured since I need supplies for my current project, I'll take the paint can with me and ask to spin it in the mixer (I've been a professional painter for 20+ years and this has never been an issue ever in my life). The two young folks working in the paint center wouldn't spin the can (Behr paint, I might add, which is practically a HD exclusive brand). I asked why they couldn't spin it in the mixer and they said "There's not enough paint in the can. With this little paint it will come out of the machine." I was dumbfounded and said I've never heard that in all my years as a professional painter. The girl behind the counter said "That's how I was trained, so I can't do it." Then the guy behind the counter said I could mix it with a paint stick (really? You guys only give those things out for free...I had never thought to mix it with a stick). Needless to say I walked right out of the store without spending a dime. I've gone to stores that carry paint brands other than what I'm using on particular jobs and have never gotten grief about spinning it...because most businesses understand that if you take care of your customer, they'll spend money in the store instead of walking out to never return. This store must be making so much money that they don't need my business, so they...
Read moreLet me start by saying that I normally don't write reviews, but my experience was so bad that I feel it is necessary to do so. On June 22 we ordered a new sliding glass door. Danny Dunn, the salesman assured us that the door would be measured in 5-7 days and installation would be completed in 4 weeks. We paid a 600$ dollar deposit and eagerly awaited our new door. Time was important to us since the existing sliding glass door was coming off the rails and was extremely dangerous for our 6 and 4 year old children. While we waited for the job to be done, we had to lock the existing sliding glass door in place so that there would not be any possibility that our children would knock it off the rails. Approximately 5 weeks later and multiple phone calls to Home Depot, and they finally sent someone out to measure, which took a total of 1 minute. Another 2 weeks went by before they called and said that the earliest that the door could be installed was September 1st. This was 3 times the length they promised that the job would take and all the while we can not use the door since it is a hazard and locked in place. The day before the installation was to take place, Eric H. called me to tell me that they had to cancel, but don't worry, he would call me back and get someone out the following week to install the door. Two more weeks passed, and still nothing. Multiple messages were left for Eric H without any returned calls. I called the Installation Manager Danny and he assured me that he would "take care of it". That was the last that I heard from him. I called him no less than 5 times and left messages for him to call back, without any success. Finally, on September 21, we decided to cancel the job and ask for a refund of our 600$. I was able to reach Allen Hacke who said that he "reviewed our chart and could not believe that this had happened, and that Home Depot did not do business this way". he promised that he would expedite our refund so that we could get someone else to install our door. The very next day Eric H called and profusely apologized for "dropping the ball", and hoped that we did not blame Home Depot. so now, 12 days have passed since those conversations and still no refund. Home Depot just called and said that they are coming to install the door today. I told them that the job had been cancelled, and promptly called Allen Hacke back to see why he had not cancelled the job and refunded our money. When I talked to him this time, he said that he had no recollection of talking to me or any knowledge that we wanted to cancel the job. I am just amazed that a company of this size would treat consumers in this manner. I urge anyone who is contemplating using Home Depot to reconsider and use someone else. They are the most dishonest company I have ever dealt with. I will never book a job or frequent their store again, and will make sure that everyone I know is informed of their poor...

On November 26, 2016 my husband and I purchased a 4 piece Frigidaire kitchen appliance set from Home Depot because we did a complete kitchen remodel. It was our First time ever buying appliance. Delivery date was set up for December 12th and we were told damaged items needed to be returned within 48 hours. A week prior to delivery date we realized we would not complete our kitchen remodel on time and I called to ask the delivery date be later. The best they could do was the 27th. (They never offered for us to pick up appliances at store and we could have done this) Since we have had no kitchen since October this date didn't work best for us because we would be done with kitchen on the 19th and we wanted a functional kitchen by Christmas. We decided to accept the delivery. At the time of delivery we didn't completely remove all the packaging (styrofoam) and examined to our best ability. To what we thought was acceptable, Possibly paying too much attention to the front. At the time of installation the wrapping was removed and found the refrigerator and stove were severely damaged. Damaged beyond functionality as the frame of each item was bent. The stove bottom drawer could not open and close. The fridge was leaning when packing was removed. The Items would not properly fit in cabinets. The damage could not have been caused by two humans dropping it. Frigeridaire only wanted to help by sending a technician to access damage and couldn't come till the week of the 26th. Home Depot offered little to no resolutions. They expected us to rebuy the items at the current price they offered no replacement or discount if repurchased never offered to waive or reduce the restocking fee said if we did get the appliances it would be 3-4 weeks. Or honoring their 30 day delivery policy I'm beyond disgusted with the Eugene local store and the corporation. They have NO interest in customer satisfaction especially those who have spent a significant amount of money. They do not care if they lose customers. In the end the items were returned and we paid a $220 restocking fee and repurchased the items from lowes. Lowes had a fridge and stove in stock and we picked them up on the 21st. Please think fully when buying appliances from Home Depot. I strongly recommend a...
