I moved into Willamette Oaks last year after a fall and broken wrist, when I remembered with my children that Willamette Oaks just down the street from where I was then living, had often been the place with beautiful grounds that drew my attention during my daily walks along the Willamette River. After retirement in Cincinnati I had moved to Eugene to be close to my daughter. We made an appointment to visit WO from the inside and all of us were impressed with the friendliness of the staff, the beauty of the surroundings and the home-like atmosphere as we toured the living spaces, the library, exercise room, theater and model apartments and views from the windows. Passing smiling residents in the hallways who were known by our representative were impressive, as well as the views of Delta Ponds and the Willamette River from the windows as we passed. It is now over a year since my arrival here and I can say that I am very happy to be with people with interesting stories who are most often going through similar experiences. I have found friends and kinship with other residents and an almost endless array of activities planned by our involved Programs staff. One has the sense that support staff like working here and are available and more than willing to help with questions and general settling in. The amazing raised garden beds and benches to sit in a quiet place surrounded by beauty is a wonderful attraction here. There is a great feeling of safety here as well, and if I am unsure of something, an answer is always found. The best part of living here is the many people with whom I eat every evening, who agree that WO is a wonderful place to live with the surrounding beauty, support of involved and caring staff, amenities and chance to live our lives with safety measures and a variety of interesting activities to meet almost...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe are in our 6th year at W.O. Between us we have gotten involved in several programs and games as well as bus trips to various events in the county. With the 12 acres, there is room to roam and walk. The Willamette River right behind us including a bench right next to the water. The walk/bike trail of 12 miles goes past us next to the river as well. We have had a garden bed for the time we have been here which is continually updated. Wildlife is abundant here including a gaggle of Canadian geese led by a white Pilgrim goose (nicknamed Egbert by the wait staff) The dining room is pleasant. The food is adequate and sometimes great. The staff is the best thing about W.O...all of them are friendly and say hello whenever you see them. They will also joke with you but always maintain a certain distance which is best in our opinion. The library where i help out has approximately 2,000 volumes and is well organized. The rooms are adequate and well insulated. If you are looking for a place to live...We can say it is the best deal in town. Below is a pic from our window in the spring. Bob and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDon't believe it - if you are considering this place get absolutely everything in writing. We were promised that if we moved into a tiny studio apartment that there would a one bedroom available that would be totally refurbished in a couple months so we paid the community fee and moved in. Ooops - a few weeks later we were informed that we were not first on the list for that apartment and that the date of the refurbishment was unknown. We asked for a refund of our community fee and were told that it was absolutely not refundable under any circumstance even though they admitted they misrepresented the offer
Then a few weeks later we were evicted with less than 30 days notice because we didn't fit into the community because we required a higher level of care. Our final bill contained charges for "excess resident lunches" for dates AFTER we moved out.
There is a pattern of overcharge and misrepresentation with little care for residents. The place looks gorgeous but is rotten at the core. Go...
