If you are interested in a large portion of your typical Mexican American food at a low price then this is a good sit down restaurant option. The chips were average restaurant supply and the salsa is just okay with no spicy salsa available. If you ask they will bring you some habanero sauce from the back you can add for a little heat and flavor. The service was not great. When our appetizer came out we asked for more salsa, the waitress asked if we wanted more chips too, but then didn't bring us either. If the restaurant had been busy I would chalk it up to getting distracted but this place had as many staff as customers. No one was in a hurry and the staff didn't appear to be paying attention to much of anything, well until it was time to offer a to-go box. The Camerones Monterey came on a fajita plate but nothing was sizzling. The bed of onions and green bell peppers were barely cooked when you would expect grilled or well sauteed, topped with a thick layer of Monterrey Jack cheese. The prawns were so overcooked they had a dry chalky texture wrapped in a thin slice of bacon that was cooked until hard. The chicken mole was a dark black color with a thin texture and very bitter. The spices were burnt and the sauce was clearly scorched. The chicken, a breast split into two thin pieces were cooked properly but nearly inedible due to the burnt sauce. The rice and beans were good. They are generous with the sour cream and guacamole; which was very good. If you go here, stick to the basics. The most expensive dinner entree I noticed was still under $20. The dishes were enough food for 2 people easily or a generous helping of leftovers; if only they had been properly cooked. For white people taco night in Eugene, this is your place. If you want good Mexican food, check out one of the many food trucks in the area. Read morePepe's Mexican Restaurant serves very consistent excellent Mexican food. We have eaten there every couple of months for the past six years and every meal, every dish, every combination, is extraordinarily consistent and of high quality ingredients. If you like Mexican food you will like Pepe's. The interior is not designer, but it is very clean. Speaking of clean, there is an available view of the kitchen from a spot in their bar. I like knowing food comes from a well maintained, very clean kitchen. The service varies depending on personnel. Sometimes it is flawless and others... not so much. However their kitchen cranks out the food... I can't remember ever NOT getting our orders extremely fast. It's just asking for the extras... more this or that... condiments etc. that can vary from server to server... but on the whole... service is excellent well over 50-50 and rarely flat out bad. I speak fluent spanish having attended school for 5 years in Mexico growing up... and living there another 15 years. It's great grub:) It's not Daniel's. I give them a 5 for serving up exactly what we expect... every time. The portions are generous and hearty combo meals are around ten bucks each. We plan on going again with friends this Sunday Feb. 19th. Very Good...

For the past year and a half, Tio Pepe Mexican Restaurant has been our go-to spot in Eugene, and they've consistently impressed us. The dedicated staff, many of whom seem to be long-standing members of the team, are always hustling, yet remain remarkably attentive to every diner.
Having explored most of the menu across our visits, it's tough to pick a single standout, but the Chile Colorado is a personal favorite. That said, their fajitas are also a delicious choice for when I'm in the mood for something different.
Portion sizes at Tio Pepe are just right – generously sized for the price, ensuring you either leave completely satisfied or with enough leftovers to enjoy later. It's clear why Tio Pepe has become such a reliable and enjoyable dining...
