Been here 3 more times since my last update. I had the Chicken, Rice & Veggie Soup, the Split Pea Soup & the Asian Chicken Salad. The Soups were absolutely tremendous! The Asian Chicken Salad was only ok.
Came here happily again. I had the Huevos Rancheros & couldn't finish the dish. I don't need them to come with hashbrowns or homefries, thats for sure! This is now my new favorite dish. I ordered it without green chilis, because I don't like hot spicy anything. Once I received my plate, I deconstructed it & put half my Egg, Cheese, Tomatoes, Sour Cream & Refried Beans in one of the halves of half a Tortilla & did the same with the other 1/4 of the Tortilla. I will have a VERY hard time not ordering this each time I come here now! I did taste the Salsa that came on the side & it had great flavor but it was way too hot/spicy for my wimpy palate. My dining partner had the huge Countryside Breakfast & enjoyed every single bite. Looking forward to my next trip back. I am adding the photos from this meal now. Debra wasn't here this time, but our servers were both very nice.
I have been here to Countryside numerous times, previously with friends & I thought that I had reviewed it already! Sorry y'all. Anyhow, I have had Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner & Pizza here, with NEVER a bad meal or service. I have came out here to the attached Bar, Happy Hours & watched my numerous friends with Bands perform, while I danced the night away. I can't tell ya anything about the drinks here, because I don't drink alcohol but, my friends have all told me, that Happy Hours does pour a pretty strong drink.
I will catch up with more photos, as I return back here again.
Today we decided on Breakfast, because my Son & DIL had not been here before.
My Countryside Bendict was beyond delicious. My Blue Cheese Crumbles were fresh & creamy, not tart or tangy bordering on bad, like I have experienced at other Restaurants. The Hollandaise Sauce here is the best I have had around town. I will ask for extra next time, because it's that good. I was thrilled at the amount of crispy Bacon on my Benedict & the cook got the way I like my Eggs, perfect. I always ask for my Eggs to be cooked hard/well & most cooks refuse to poach Eggs that way & that always forces me to have to send my order back, which I HATE doing. Debra our server was an absolute delight & she also was instrumental in getting my Eggs cooked my way. The English Muffins were toasted just right, so when I cut off bites of my dreamy Benedict, I wasn't having to saw through Bready Leather, as has happened at other Restaurants. The Hash Browns were expertly crisped (but not crisped dry), with flecks of tiny squares of grilled onion throughout. I really enjoyed the flavor. We all ordered Decaf & whatever company/roaster they use, is super, because it was strong & flavorful.
My Son ordered the Shrimp Omelette, add Onions, minus Tomatoes, with Hollandaise Sauce & a side of Sausage Gravy for his Home Fries. His Home Fries were nice & Soft, not dried out Potato chunks, as he has sadly been served elsewhere.
Here they put Onions & Bell Peppers in their Home Fries, which my Son said was great. He also ordered a Handmade Biscuit & said it was yummy. My DIL ordered the Build Your Own Omelette, but I forget all she put in it, besides Cheese, Spinach & Linguica. She got the same as my Son, the Biscuit, the Sausage Gravy & the Home Fries. She said she liked everything too.
Our server Debra said she was new, but she sure didn't seem new, she was on top of her game & an absolute pleasure to interact with. The Restaurant is a long time establishment here in Eugene & I wish more folks would add it to their radar. As I said before, I have eaten a lot of different types of meals here, without disappointment. For those who follow me, my Sneeze-o-meter was zero here, which means, no chemicals, artificial junk, preservatives, flavor enhancers or weird stuff is used in the creation of the FANTASTIC food here!
I hope y'all will come here & give them a try. Once you do, you'll be a regular,...
Read moreSome of the food I've tried was really good, like the eggs benedict, the ziti, although at first they brought out garlic texas toast with the parmesan burnt on it, I told her it was burnt flavored and she brought out more that had hardly any parmesan on it, but good, the shepherd's pie was really good, but the shepherds pie had broccoli and mushrooms in it, not the usual peas and carrots, I loved the mushrooms, but i have to have broccoli cooked really soft for my stomach and restaurants never cook it long enough so it would have been nice if it said what was it in on the menu, since it was unusual shepherds pie, but the steak was really tender and the gravy had a great flavor. I had to remove the broccoli. The country gravy had real sausage in it but mostly tasted like white sauce with a few chunks of sausage thrown in it. My boyfriend said his spicy burger and sirloin dinner he had there were both good. So far the food is pretty good, but there is always just one waitress serving and they always seem to be a little frazzled trying to serve the whole restaurant by theirself, so their not in a good mood and not very friendly. I also see them chatting too long to someone while people are waiting. Half the time they are out of the food I ordered and have to order something else. Why not put up an eraser board showing when there out of something because the waitress never knows. There is also stuff on the menu that they kept saying sorry w no longer have that. They finally put masking tape over the ones they didn't have anymore. Is it really that hard to update your menu on your website? They obviously have no rules on what the staff wears, which is fine as long as clothes are clean. I went there a few years ago and the waitress looked like she had dirty clothes on so I didn't go back for years to try them again. The floor by the front door did not look like it was moped from the last time i was in and looked at it. This place makes me question if this place is even clean in the kitchen. I think i will ask to see the kitchen before I eat here again, if fact everyone should ask to look in the kitchen at every restaurant. I want this place to be good so bad since it's in the neighborhood, but they need 2 waitresses, they need to make sure their not running out of food on the menu or at least display what their out of. They need to update their menu on their website and make sure their place is very clean. A cook on here commented he worked there for a week and quit because the kitchen was nasty. The owner needs to pitch in and help if he wants to keep this restaurant. I know someone that works at mac's restaurant at the vet club and the owner is there all day and helps so the restaurant is ran right. Good example...
Read moreSurprisingly decent pizza. Found through Groupon. [Edit] Second visit here deserves an edit and revised rating: First time we visited, we bought Groupon, called, picked up in roughly the time they said, went home ate pizza. Whatever. It's another random, if overly greasy dinner.
This trip, however, was Very much a bad pizza experience. This time the 20 min estimate was more like 35 and while waiting, the attendant (cashier?waitress? owner?) was chatting up an old guy that was obviously a regular ("want me put in a few extra fries for ya, like usual?") which might be charming if the old tool was wearing a mask. Not only was he not wearing one, he didn't have one and apparently the cashier didn't care - about any of us. So we finally get home with what we think is our order but instead of double sausage (i.e.: extra fee) our pie has Zero meat. Ugh. So we make the phone call and she can refund the $1.60 or whatever if we bring in the credit card or give us a coupon for a free personal pie the next time. (No! The reason we're even having pizza is that it's late and we just want to be home.)
When the service is bad, the food is wrong and customer service is uncaring and unapologetic what's the draw to return?
Do yourself a favor, go elsewhere. Pizza isn't that hard to make and kind service is worth paying for. Second photo added to document...
