I tried this place for the first time today! I ordered the Kung Pao Chicken and Pan Fried dumplings to-go.
The Kung Pao Chicken is where it's at!! There was so much depth in its flavor, and the ingredients in the dish were well balanced and portioned (i.e. not too many onions, not too little chicken, not too many nightshade... just right, the Goldilocks zone). The spice level? Also perfect. Although I did not dine-in, the service from the staff was excellent, and they were very respectful. The wait time was also reasonable.
Inside, the atmosphere is very calm, casual, and relaxing. It's also very spacious. One thing I wish I could give this establishment an extra star for, is it's very CLEAN. The tables, floor, and condiment dispensers were all clean without any greasy or oily residue. As a customer, this boosted my confidence that the kitchen is just as immaculate.
The food was packaged well to-go. They included utensils, chop sticks, dipping sauces for my dumplings, and napkins. My food came out of the kitchen piping hot and the portions (for the price) were very reasonable.
I hope in the future the Chef will consider adding more of their signature dishes to the menu, as the Kung Pao chicken was pretty awesome. The dumplings were still excellent, but I am not keen on eating too many (they have a large variety).
Overall, a 6/5 and I would...
Read moreA few years ago there was a dumpling place near LA that I liked to stop by when I was in the area and they had my all time favorite dumplings. They closed down and I’ve been chasing the taste of those dumplings since. I got the vegetable bao from Mr. Dumpling and I couldn’t believe that the taste of the filling was almost exactly the same.
If I had to be critical, I would say that the bao wasn’t really the authentic kind of bao I was used to. There was only about half as much dough as normal and the bao I’ve had have usually just been steamed and this one was fried afterwards. The crunchy bottom was a nice touch but I wasn’t a huge fan of how greasy this made the whole bao. If I think of it more as a bao dumpling then I think it is an interesting combo, but as a regular bao it wasn’t quite what I was hoping for, as I really love the fluffy dough of bao.
Despite the bao not being the kind of bao I was expecting, the flavor was still excellent and I will be stopping by again. The staff were also very nice when I picked up my order. The next time I’m here I think I’ll just get the vegetable dumplings as I hope the filling...
Read moreOK, so when I got here it was packed. Luckily us Eugenians aren’t the hurried type so I had no problem waiting about 20 minutes to be seated. I think the place is somewhat hot and new and a lot of locals jumping at the chance to eat somewhere they’ve never been before.
I ordered the Kung pow shrimp, mapo tofu, pork xiao long bao, and pork shrimp dumplings. The food was amazing!! The king pao shrimp was delicious and just looked beautiful it was prepared really nice. Also the quality of ingredients felt top notch.
The mapo tofu was delicious that said I like my mapo tofu with more Szechuan but I am also a freak of nature who enjoys the feeling of my tongue being numb, burning off, etc
The dumplings and the bao zi?? Chefs kiss. Absolutely delicious. 100% will be back
Lastly I found out that the owner of this establishment is brothers with the owner of Bao Bao house (if you haven’t been I also recommend). But I will say that this is an entirely different experience and though Bao Bao house has historically been my favorite place to get Bao, I think Mr. Dumpling might be a bit better 🤐....
