I canât say enough good things about my momâs assisted living facility. From the moment we arrived, Christine Munns, Caroline Bradshaw, Gina, Michaela, and Staciâjust to name a fewâhave gone above and beyond to make both my mom and our entire family feel welcome. They have a true gift for connecting with residents and their families. They took the time to get to know my mom personally and helped her feel at home right away.
Christine does an incredible job introducing residents to one another and encouraging involvement in the communityâs many activities, which is so important for older adults making this major transition from their homes into this new chapter of life. The activities calendar is outstandingâthereâs truly something for everyone, and the staff puts in so much effort to keep things engaging, fun, and meaningful. From group outings and games to crafts and live music, thereâs always something to look forward to. It makes such a difference in the residentsâ lives.
They also have an on-site hair salon, which is such a wonderful perk. It gives residents a sense of normalcy, independence, and dignityâplus itâs a lovely way for them to treat themselves and socialize. Staci does a wonderful job and also is a friend to all the residents.
Another key part of our positive experience has been the Right At Home services. Rachel, Michaela, Benji, and Taylor are all compassionate, attentive, and always available. Whether itâs help with daily needs, medication reminders, or just making sure my mom is comfortable and happy, theyâre there. The entire team is incredibly responsive and genuinely cares.
Since I work out of town frequently, it brings me so much peace of mind knowing that my mom is safe, cared for, and truly part of a community. Everyone keeps a loving, watchful eye on her, and I cannot express how much that support has meant to us. We are...
Read moreMy parents moved to Washington Commons in March. Christie had just been appointed General Manager and we are so so thankful!!! A previous employee has made many promises as far as the apartment they would move into. She gave us a date when a renter was still in that particular apartment. When we found this out, it did not set a good tone for my parents future. We were going elsewhere. Christie helped immensely and has kept all of her promises. She also gets right in there with the residents and workers.
My parents absolutely love the food!! They clean their plates. I have eaten there too and enjoyed it! We have taken advantage of some in house resources such as the salon and Right at Home. All of the workers we have come in contact with are so kind and helpful! They recognize my parents, smile and speak. It means the world to us. A smile goes a long ways!
God bless the maintenance guy Anthony! We all know the facility is older so he has his hands full. But he gets it done!! Any time a work order gets put in, especially if itâs urgent, he is on top of it!
The ONLY reason I did not give a 5 is that there are still upgrades that could really make Washington Commons a 5. The air units are old and the filters need regular cleaning. My son cleaned them about a month ago. Small complaint. I know it is getting better. Iâm witnessing the transformation! The residents seem happier too. We are so happy to be a part of the Washington Commons community! I have already started seeing some good changes with the new Barclay owners. I hope...
Read moreIt was 2016 when I had direct information about this place. A gentleman (who I will not name because I do not have his permission to do so, but he is an amazing US Army Vet in his 80s who is very active and sharp as a tack!) that I would do some household chores for decided he would move into this facility as he thought he might enjoy the company and he was sure he would enjoy not having to cook. He was going to keep his house and his daughter had concerns. I helped him both before, during, after his move there-- and at that time-- he was very happy. He said he really liked the menu, that they kept everything tidy and he didn't have to cook so it kept what he had to do lower-- he was able to devote his energy to what he wanted to do-- which was his garden and a card game with his vet friends! Lol He was very satisfied with this place, happy he could come and go as he pleased, and happy he was able to have company of the people his age there as well. He had been a widower for many many years. My DH and I were stationed in Germany, retiring just in time for the corona lockdown and I have not reached out to my friend but I with many places not getting credit for caring about their older folks, I am sure that my friend felt that this place did-- I can only hope that the covid crisis did not...
