Penn Station East Coast Subs — Restaurant in Evansville

I don’t usually leave reviews but the GM has terrible customer service skills and he should be held accountable. I work in the industry so I’m aware of how difficult people can be and I am not one of those people. My sandwich was being wrapped by two workers who did not have on gloves, red flag number one. Two, was the fact that my sandwich was missing toppings, I bring it up to the counter just so they can add it to my sandwich no biggie and Chad, the GM, throws lettuce and tomato on a to-go lid and hands it to me. As this is happening my mom is saying the fries are cold, and they were. I said verbatim “I know this is crazy, but the fries are cold”. Chad begins to tell me they are not in fact cold, like they didn’t just have fries sitting under the warmer. I just asked for fresh fries, he begins to try to go back and forth with me about the fries about when they were dropped and a whole bunch of non sense I didn’t care for. Stopped by this location a few weeks ago and had lunch with my wife who works nearby. Food was great but service was way above what I think most people would expect. We purchased a card that allowed for a free sandwich next time so I went last week to the Newburgh location. Completely different experience. The food was good but the the two ladies working were complaining about a customer and the drink machine was out for what I normally get so I had to drink something else. The service wasn't horrible but more like what I typically see anywhere else I go. Today we went back to this location again. The same person that was there previously, looks like his name is Tom based on a review below. It was same experience as before. Very interactive with customers and you can just tell he takes pride in making sure everyone there is taken care of. I heard him interacting with another customer about how great the Italian was. I live closer to Newburgh location however will probably go to this location more often for the service and atmosphere. ...

Tom is amazing! So friendly, knowledgeable, hilarious, and caring! He told us a few jokes, suggested an amazing sandwich, and was super fast! The way he treated everyone in the store was awesome. One guy waited a tad too long; someone put his order to the side, and when he asked for it, Tom asked him to make sure it was correct so he wouldnt need to make another trip, acknowledged he waited too long, apologized and walk the man out, opening the door. The guy was by no means upset, but Tom wanted to make sure he was more than satisfied, and he was.

He also told another person to leave their mess and he'd pick it up and chatted it up with an older couple.

We sat at the counter facing the kitchen. He conversed with us the whole time while getting his job done.

Isaac and Sabrina were working too and were very helpful snd courteous as well. Seemed like a good, fun crew!
