đ„ Public Service Announcement â AVOID CAR TOYS IN EVERETT đ„
I recently purchased a 2019 BMW i3s BEV â my new city ride. I was thrilled! Got it Tuesday, detailed it Wednesday, and started shopping around Thursday for a powered subwoofer and tint. I landed on Car Toys in Everett (410 SW Everett Mall Way). The salesperson gave me a good vibe, so I took a chance. I paid $1,500 for the tint and subwoofer install â steep, but I figured I was paying for professional work. I was dead wrong.
Friday: dropped off the car in the morning. Called at 5PM and was told âwe were just gonna call you.â I show up, they hand me the keys â no walk-through, no explanation of the work done, nothing. But fine â I was excited to check out the subwoofer and the tint looked good.
Then the problems started.
I got home, started tuning the subwoofer with the bass knob â nothing. Checked the connection and found out they installed it so poorly that the cable was bent and didnât even reach properly. They literally removed the bass knob connection. I was already feeling ripped off.
Saturday: I go back to Car Toys. After an hour, they swap out the subwoofer, and now the bass knob works and it finally sounds the way it should have the first time. I left happier⊠but not for long.
Sunday: total rage. Iâm plugging in my car to charge and notice a HUGE curb rash on my freshly detailed rear passenger wheel. Dug out, raw aluminum damage â damage that was 1000% not there before I dropped it off at Car Toys.
Monday: I go in. Assistant manager Anthony says heâll talk to manager Brayden and review CCTV footage.
Tuesday: I follow up. I speak with their installer Guinn who says theyâre reviewing footage. Later that day, I go in person. They show me video that doesnât even show the impacted wheel. I point that out, and Brayden gets snappy and dismissive, saying âAre you going to let me finish reviewing the footage?â â as if Iâm the problem here.
One minute later: âYeah, we saw nothing.â Thatâs it. No accountability. No attempt to make it right. Just a dismissive âtoo badâ attitude. I just walked out before I said something foolish.
I own two other vehicles and a boat. I was going to use Car Toys for all of them if this went well. Now? Iâd rather risk Craigslist than ever give them another dollar. My Audi is 4 years old and not a single mark on the wheels. Car Toys had my BMW for less than 8 hours and now Iâm looking at out-of-pocket repairs on a 20â black wheel.
They charge professional prices and deliver amateur work â if not damaging work. So here it is:
đ« DO NOT trust Car Toys in Everett. đ« Do not let them touch your vehicle. đ« Do not expect accountability.
Find a real professional who treats your car like itâs theirs. Car Toys has proven they canât even do the basics without cutting corners or...
Read moreFor anyone trying to purchase something from Car Toys in Everett: CHECK YOUR SERIAL NUMBERS before leaving the store! This store and their management will try to swindle you.
While our store experience was awful, what made our situation better was the customer service from Missy who is a supervisor with the call center. I would give Missy 5 stars, however, this review is for the store and the store experience definitely justifies our 1 start rating.
I recently purchased a $260 amplifier for my subwoofer from the Car Toys on Everett Mall Way. After getting the amplifier home and opening the box, I realized instantly the amp was damaged. It looked brand new, except for a giant dent in the bottom and some parts missing on the side of it. After realizing this, only an hour later I tried to take it back to the same store to exchange it for one without damage. The managers at the store said there is nothing they can do about it because the serial number on the amp did not match the one on the box. After some words were exchanged, I left frustrated with the damaged amp still in my hands. No âsorry this happenedâ no empathy and I saw no remorse in the managerâs eyes. Iâd like to add they did not verify the serial numbers on the box and the amp matched before I left the store initially with my new purchase, and my invoice conveniently did not have the serial numbers listed.
After about 2 hours, I returned to the store with my girlfriend who approached the managers with kindness to begin with, but as she heard the managers responses, we then started to argue back and forth with management. They said things like âthere is nothing we can do about thisâ âyou need to call corporate if you have an issueâ âwe donât accept returns at the storeâ âyou will need to ship the damaged item to corporate to get a refundâ âwe donât even make any profit off of your purchaseâ âwe canât call corporate for you, you need to just do itâ They also pointed to a lot of verbiage on the back of the invoice that we did not sign before or after purchasing the equipment. The policy on the back of the invoice stated none of their statements aboveâŠ
Missy, the call center supervisor, has been so so helpful with initiating the process of our refund or exchange and we are looking forward to resolving this and helping Car Toys improve their Everett store management and their customer complaint resolution standards of practice. Thank you a...
Read moreZero stars if it would let me! Car toys isn't what they used to be! I had an issue with my system; installed 1.5 years previously by a competior. One of the front component speakers quit working and having a background in car audio; I suspected it was a bad RCA. Being older and not wanting to deal with the joys of car audio installation; and Everett Car toys being closer to my residence, I called them and scheduled a diagnostic. Dropped off for 10am appointment and told them I think it's a bad RCA. I was told I would receive a call within a couple hours. 2pm, finally received a call from Car toys stating it was not a RCA and my JL Audio XD1000/5v2; 5 channel amp) blew a channel and I needed to replace it. They did not have a similar 5 channel amp in stock or any matching component amps either. I picked up the JL amp and brought to the original retailer. Out of warranty. For my troubles I got a fair price on new Alpine X-A70F and X-A90M. Brought these amps back to Car toys within an hour for install. Was told they needed to run another power wire/fuse since my power consumption was increased with the new set of amps, okay. Was told it would be done within a few hours. Approaching closing time and no call, so I just went in. Waiting in the store til 1030pm "they close at 9pm" and the installer finally came to the counter and said he was finished and there was something he needed to point out. We walked out to my car and listened to the stereo. Now one of the rear speakers isn't working and there's a horrible whining noise coming out of the speakers that are working. I refused to accept delivery of the car and demanded that they remedy this issue first thing in the morning. The next morning I brought my JL Audio XD1000/5v2 to the original retailer and asked to have it bench tested. Everything works! Called Car toys and asked to speak with the installation manager Barry and told him that there was nothing wrong with the JL amp. Barry acted like he was doing me a favor and told me Cartoys would be giving me new RCA's and installing them at no cost. Guess what? It was the RCA's the whole time! I guess they couldn't figure that out during their so called diagnostic and just wanted me to buy new equipment and pay installation costs! What a joke! Look at the amateur install job where the installer ran his screw gun bit against my brand new $2k amps and scratched the cases at...
