I was a customer at the Fair Lawn NJ Great Clips salon since 2012. It is a very nice salon and in a convenient location. The prices were very affordable.. I was happy with the hair cuts and perms. After the pandemic started, this salon stopped doing perms and other services. The only service it kept are haircuts. The cons. I ended up hating and resenting Diane's inappropriate, rude, unwanted, embarrassing, harassing, nasty, and mean spirited comments that she started to make to me on an issue. When I asked her not to make comments to me on this issue and not to bring it up again, she continued to force the comments on me. It happened again during my last visit there. She embarrassed me to her staff and the customers. I also did not like the comments she made to me on another matter. I have not been back to that location since August 2021. There was a high risk of embarrassment and the problem repeating since this was a pattern. That is a terrible way to treat a customer who did business with that salon for years. It is also very bad customer service. I did not want to be subjected to Diane's harassing, embarrassing, and unwanted comments again, so I went to another salon, which was near the Great Clips. Diane's comments repeated with another stylist who was the owner's sister at the Vlad's Hair Studio. She used Diane's exact words and made the same kind of harassing, unwanted, disturbing and embarrassing comments. The unwanted comments had verbally escalated and was even more harassing and embarrassing. Diane would have been the one making the comments if I had not left Great Clips. If my suspicions were correct, Diane was using that stylist to talk to me for her. She had no business invading another salon so she could continue harassing me. Diane committed a breach and betrayed a customer's trust. She misused her position and information. Her only concern should have been the business and the customer service. It was a very negative experience. It caused me an inconvenience that I had to go to another salon because of the trouble that Diane gave me at her salon. The other salons are more expensive and most of the salons are not affordable. I was forced to change salons again after the trouble continued at the Vlad's Hair Studio. I even messaged Diane on Facebook and told her that I did not like her comments. No one ever reached back to me and apologized. When I complained to customer service, they referred the matter to the owner. The owner got back to them and said there would be no further follow-up on this matter. The Fairlawn, NJ Great Clips is independently owned. Corporate has no jurisdiction. I would have given a 5 star rating and remained a customer if those horrible incidences with Diane had not happened. Diane was always nice to me. She began to harass me and treat me badly. Diane did not even care nor apologized after I complained to her about her unwanted and harassing comments. I never had a problem with Diane and thought she was a nice person until this horror started to happen. Diane misused her position and information. I lost trust in her. The problem would have escalated and gotten worse if I had remained a customer. In reply to the response from customer service, that was the customer service address that I had emailed. They referred the matter to the owner, and he did not want to follow up on it. Customer service apologized and said there was nothing more that...
Read morePopped in for a trim between cuts at my regular salon (I have a newborn and scheduling my stylist in advance is not really possible at the moment!) I just wanted to get rid of 3 months of split ends, and I didn’t want to believe the terrible reviews. (I figured the same person could not still be working if so many customers complained...) I wish I had listened- my cut with Talin was about as terrible as other reviewers’. I asked her name after I was assigned her chair, and my heart sank. No other customers were there and there was another stylist on her phone; I really wish I had asked to switch but am shy and didn’t really know what to say! Anyways, first Talin didn’t wet my hair at all, not one spritz, even though I told her my hair was wavy and I hadn’t straightened it that day. She followed my request for the cut, and showed me afterwards, but it came out totally crooked! I couldn’t see the damage until I got home, washed/dried my hair and checked for myself (see photo). She wasn’t very friendly throughout and I was covered with hair when I left, which has never happened anywhere else. I’d like to think other stylists at this location are better because it’s just so convenient for me... but we’ll see. Believe the reviews and speak up for a...
Read moreThis place is a desaster. I wish there was an option to give zero stars because that's what they truly deserve. It's evident that the barbers here lack professionalism and experience. It felt as if they were practicing on our hair while getting paid for it. I visited with my two children, and all we requested was a simple low fade. However, the questions they posed were unlike any I've ever encountered from a professional barber, and I am 48 so this was not my first haircut. In the pic, notice the area just above the sideburn and this is not the only place where he did the uneven cut. He did the same in back and the other side. Besides, what he did is not a lowfade by any definition. Needless to say, none of us left satisfied with our haircuts. To add insult to injury, the gentleman who ruined my hair had the audacity to ask for a cash tip. Despite the subpar service, I tipped for all three haircuts, only to see him keep it all for himself. This was my first and will certainly be my last visit. I'd advise others to steer clear...
