Two months after buying a loveseat, we were notified on a Saturday it would be delivered on Monday. We had agreed to pay $100 for delivery. Their delivery agent Daniel & Son) attempted to deliver on Sunday, but we were not available and couldn't be reached. It was delivered on Monday, but we were required to pay $200 (extra due to the failed attempt) before it would be brought inside and assembled. Then it was discovered to be damaged. This required action by a different agent to order materials and do the repair. That process took another month. Several requests for compensation -- particularly for the extra $100 -- were summarily refused. The owner of this company refuses to deal personally with customer issues or be contacted. Other employees were sympathetic to our situation, but unable to help.
Then the owner (finally) responded by email as follows: "You received store credit and I was in the loop on the whole situation. The delivery company charged you the no show fee because you where (sic) not home for your scheduled appointment. You assumed the delivery company did not do deliveries on Sundays and thought next day would be a Monday. You wasted hours of your time and caused stress on my hardworking employees because you wanted my company to pay for your mistake that another company charged you for. "
Turns out the "store credit" is a small discount on future purchases (fat chance). To claim a delivery was scheduled for Sunday (especially at 6:00 pm -- after dark) is patently false -- we would never have agreed to that due to another scheduled church event. His remarks about "wasting time" and my "mistake" are insulting and would never be made by a reputable business person. Nor should he try to pass blame onto the delivery sub or the two subs involved in the botched...
Read moreIf only there was a NEGATIVE star! We used Dayton Discount 2 years ago and loved it - so we decided to use them again April 2021 because they told us they would have a couch within a month vs waiting 6-9months with covid. We got the couch and had a poor experience! When the couch was being loaded, they dropped the back of the couch on the truck lip! We got home, unpackaged it to find that the back had been split in half & the fabric torn up (from it being dropped)! In dismay, we reached out to try and get it fixed promptly. They told us the couch was under warranty BUT they do not fix things outside of Ohio through their 3rd party...(and we are in indiana) that if we wanted it fixed we had to buy a new couch and come and get it or pay for delivery after we had just paid $300 for a u-haul to get it the first time.
They REFUSED to make things right and continue to say "were just a distribution center" even though theres warranty on the couch for issues. They kept telling us to fix the back ourselves and that it was easy. That is not what we pid over 1k for... They said they would order a new couch but WE HAD TO COME BACK AND GET IT OR PAY $350+ for delivery AGAIN.
Don't be mislead, the manager & employees are not upfront with you!
The communication was AWFUL, good luck trying to get answers or them to even pick up. Its been 2 months and still nothing is fixed. Needless to day - annoyed we went with them a 2nd time & upset they won't make things right. Look anywhere else but here if your want a couch!!...
Read moreI purchased a mattress and adjustable bed from Frank the owner of Dayton Discount Furniture. One mattress was extremely thick so I asked him twice if that mattress would work well with an adjustable bed, sharing that I lived alone and am small. Both times he said yes. After trying to adjust the bed with the mattress was barely bending I immediately called & emailed the owner. I was told there was a no return policy. I shared that the mattress did not bend properly and learned after researching online that the mattress was way too thick for an adjustable bed with someone of my size. When asked he acknowledged that when he sold this mattress for an adjustable bed in the past it was always to a couple where there would be more weight on the bed. He also at knowledged he probably should have warned me. The only thing he was willing to do was sell me another mattress at cost. He said if he took the mattress back he would just have to get rid of it which is what I told him I would have to do. I am not in the position to buy another mattress since I am still paying for this one. I asked that he take back the adjustable frame since the the mattress could not be returned he was unwilling to do that as well. As the professional I believe he should have been more forthcoming since I asked twice, and when there was an issue, he should have been willing to adjust the price of the mattress already purchased or take back either the mattress or the...
