Lefty’s Eats & Espresso Fairborn — Restaurant in Fairborn

I like to shop local, small business locations. I do like Lefty’s for the most part but I have seen a few glaring issues that makes it hard to return. The coffee menu has something for everyone but the execution of these recipes is lackluster. The staff is more than capable of making a good drink; however, I feel they are neutered by the recipes. Especially the lattés, they are more milk than flavor. I see this as an attempt to get the most profit per sale. I’ve had the same drink by 3 different baristas at this shop and they all tasted the same, this tells me it’s the recipes not skillset. My greater frustration with the shop is Lefty himself. He’s in the shop often, when meeting him he will try to put on his best customer service face but its transparent. I’ve seen on at least 3 different situations where his attitude toward staff, especially young females, is unacceptable in my book. I may have seen him at a few of his worst times and he could be a ok guy otherwise. When you are the name and face of your organization you should always be on your best behavior, not only when your facing the customer. Not a great first experience. I stopped in at 3:35pm on a weekday after my kids’ haircuts, and was greeted with a very rude blonde woman who instead of saying hello, immediately told us they were closing in 25 minutes so we’d have to take our food to go. We weren’t there for food anyway (just a quick coffee), but still a little strange that you’d kick customers out immediately at closing even if food was ordered well before. Even as people were in line, another staff member was moving people out of the way to take the trash out without saying excuse me. The blonde acted extremely rude and annoyed at the entire experience, to myself and other customers. I was clearly going to order something but since there was a line I asked if my kids could use the restroom- you would have thought I asked to go to her house. Maybe she was just having a bad day, but she made me feel really unwelcome and I’m not sure that...

I’ve been here a few times. Food: So good. They have a very extensive menu, and I haven’t ordered a thing I didn’t like. Today I got the veru Cruz scrambled-Ripe sliced avocado, Smokey and perfectly spicy chorizo, sweet corn, black beans, and juicy diced tomatoes over a bed of fluffy scrambled eggs. This dish bursts at the seams with flavor. The side of toast was underwhelming, but forgivable since the main dish was so good. I think some potatoes would be amazing with this dish.

Coffee: Great and hearty coffee. They have great pour overs. Today I got a brown sugar cinnamon iced latte.

Service: Very pleasant staff. If you come at a busy time, sometimes it takes FOREVER to get your food. Worth the wait.. just make sure you give yourself enough time during a lunch rush or actually like your lunch/breakfast date.
