Michaels — Local services in Fairfield Township

I usually don’t come on here with negative things to say, but as someone who also works in retail and a customer-facing role, I was very upset and disappointed by the employee Donna last night.

I’ve been to this location twice this month to have foil balloons blown up, and both times it was done right away with no problem. Last night, I came in around 7:40, shopped for a few items, and then brought my balloons to the counter. When I asked if she could blow them up, Donna told me to come back with my receipt and then asked when I needed them. I said “tonight,” and she told me that wasn’t possible because they were “too close to closing.”

She then got on her walkie to ask another employee if balloons could be done before closing, and followed it up by saying “yeah, I WOULD LIKE TO GO HOME TOO.” At that point it was only 8:05, and they don’t close until 9. That comment was extremely unprofessional, and it was clear she didn’t want to help. I told her to just cancel my transaction because I won’t be talked to like that. As she cancelled it, she was literally cussing under her breath the entire time.

This experience was unacceptable, especially compared to how smoothly my last visits went. It left me very disappointed and questioning whether I want to continue coming back to...

Always have great deals when we go. If you cant find it at this store then you dont really need it in my opinion. Cashiers and staff are really nice and always have a smile on their faces. Cashiers always help us when we go in and have any troubles bringing up the newest coupons on our phone - they already know of the coupon and just give the 30 % or 40 % off a single item or what have you. Lines move quickly and they typically have at the very very least, two cashiers. When they are slammed they have upwards of three to four cashiers manning the registers. The store itself is extremely clean and floors look like you could practically eat off them - and no you definitely should not attempt to eat off of them lol. Restrooms are pretty clean as well. No foul odors or anything like that and look maintained to say the least.

As stated earlier this store is always having sales and the items in the store that they are allowed to control the price on are always priced fairly. The only one I found that they wont allow use of coupons on is the Cricut brand items (any and all bearing the name Cricut) which is out of the stores control as Cricut will not allow...

Michael's is leaps and bounds better than Joanne's except for fabrics. Which makes a lot of sense as it's in the name for the latter. In terms of what Michael's has over Hobby Lobby I cannot say, but that is mostly because I won't shop at Hobby Lobby. Their - Hobby Lobby - paint brush selection is weak, and they are more expensive you see, and I just cannot tolerate that sort of thing. So, Michael's it will always be for me. Unless I need to make a pillow.

Really, the best thing for both stores would be to have Joanne's operate the fabrics inside of Michael's and then everyone wins. I imagine the savings for both of the companies AND people would be present immediately in myriad ways near/long term. Convenience baby, we all love it to death...
