I sent an email to Cordelia Gun Exchange regarding a specific handgun I was shopping for and received a call back less than an hour later from Jake. I had gone in to several gun stores in the Concord area and called a few others where I've previously purchased guns, but I finally found this store through the official Kimber website. I'm so glad I didn't give up my search: They had the 1911 Raptor I was looking for in-stock and priced over $100 less (and in some cases several hundred dollars less) than any other place i called . I paid for it over the phone during that initial call and a couple days later we stopped in for the paperwork and to update my FSC due to a recent name change, and I ended up buying another gun at the same time! I was talking about how most of my guns and rifles are pink, and they happened to have a S&W 9 mm that fit my motif, so I had to make her part of the family too.
I had to return again with POR information, but was happy that it didn't take much time and that everyone was still really nice (it wasn't just the fact that between the two of us we purchased 4 guns on our first visit - they are courteous every time you go in!). After the 10-day hold we went back and my friend was able to pick up his 2 items and I will be in there once more this weekend to pick up my two purchases!
Eric and another employee (Max? Jake? - I'll find out his name when I go in tomorrow!) were extremely knowledgeable and helpful with both of my purchases, and Javier was great as well, (although, there were a couple hiccups with the transaction I completed with him, but they were ultimately worked out.)
I've never really had a bad gun-buying experience, but more than once I've felt a little neglected at other stores by the staff who seem to consider other shoppers as more serious buyers, or just weren't overall that helpful in answering my questions, offering suggestions or simply being friendly. Given the low prices and attentive service here in Cordelia, this is definitely where I will start my search when looking for my...
Read moreOne of the worst experiences for a first time gun buyer and shopper I’ve ever experienced on 4/3/25. I walked into the Cordelia gun store 3 male employees working and 1 customer 1 employee at the entrance of the store on the phone as I approached the countertop to view merchandise inside the store other male employee with glasses on laptop had view of available guns blocked if not mistaken laptop was over the view of the Glocks cabinet. So i decided to look at the used gun cabinet assuming he noticed i was looking. Now at this point no words were exchanged between myself and any employee, now going back to the employee on the laptop to ask a question i asked what cabinet contained the used guns for purchase. I wasnt greeted or welcomed inside by anyone, instead i was stared and glared at as i walked around to wait to start the gun purchasing process. At this point both employess behind the counter engage with said customer. Without moving the laptop to view the recent guns available i felt at this point not wanted in the store. I was showed what cabinet when the 3rd employee at this time was involved with the customer broke conversation with customer stating i smell of marijuana and that if i wanted to purchase a firearm i would have to according to federal law mark that i wasnt a marijuana user on the application and from his opinion I would be lying or untrue from his interpretation. This was embarrassing and i felt i was put on the spot for no reason and i wasnt smelling of marijuana. So instead of negatively engaging i walked out stating i'll never spend my money in a place like this. Yet businesses have the right to refuse business to anyone but this was and out right slap in the face that my business was not wanted there and i am very pleased i didnt. i found another dealer business 15 minutes away same day and was treated like a King for my gun buying experience I wanted to share my experience as a big negative on buying anything from Cordelia...
Read moreMost of the staff are nice. Others were not as cordial. When I came in, I was greeted by a portly gentleman with glasses, and when I told him someone and I were doing a few small PPTs, his instant response was "Oh, I don't think we can do that. We don't have room in the safe. I have to check with the manager..." and then he just walked across the store and never came back. In all my years and dozens of transactions at different gun shops, I've NEVER heard of a shop "running out of space in the safe." Seemed like an excuse, as they eventually did the transaction. *(EDIT: the portly gentleman no longer works there, so I've changed this review to reflect the more positive staff members).
Like some places, this store doesn't really like to do PPTs because they don't make a lot of money off of them ($10). They have some unofficial policies for PPTs like not doing them on Saturdays and appointments for multiple transactions, which need to be listed on their site for transparency with their customers. When I showed up to pick up my transfers 45 minutes before close (and with no one else in the store), I was also met with hesitation like they wouldn't have time for that. That was quickly rectified by other staff members, and I finally got to take the guns home. All in all, I will probably not go back, but they do have a couple great employees (shoutout to Dallas, and especially Michelle. They are lucky...
