**note -Called three times this week, and the manager I need to speak to, in order to cancel, is never there. (One of the employees told me they get a lot of complaints about that). It seems like the only way to get a response is to write a bad review😡.

I have had one bad experience after another with this gym!

I was one of the first to sign up, and read the contract thoroughly. Some gyms require you to give them a checking account number, which I am not comfortable with. I was relieved to see that Crunch didn’t require one. I waited until the projected opening day, and then another month or so, until the actual opening day.

When they finally did open, I went in, and was told that they changed their policy, and were requiring everyone to give them a checking account number. Way to bait and switch! I watched two other people walk in that same week and be fed the same story about how, “corporate changed it on them right before they opened.” I had a very bad experience with that in the past, and asked if there was another way to do it. I was told that I could pay upfront for the year. I asked if there was going to be any auto renewal if I did it that way, and I was told that there will not be.

I started working out there last June, and every time I would go, there weren’t very many people there. I couldn’t work out for 10 minutes without them coming over to talk to me. Finally I agreed to a complimentary session. After which, they sat me down and told me their costs. I felt it was a little high for what it was, but it would be convenient to have a few more sessions in the gym I was going to anyway. I told them that I had to go home and look at my financial spreadsheet to see if I could make it work. I might have done it if not for the continued annoyances!

First the trainer called me several times in a week, only leaving two messages. The second message said something to the effect of, “did you ask your boyfriend if you can do the sessions yet?” What? I don’t know where this girl around the age of my children got this idea from but, I have been married to the same man for 21 years. He’s not my “boyfriend,” and I don’t have to ask anyone permission to spend a few hundred dollars!

While I wanted to give her a piece of my mind, I just told her that I am not interested, and will not become interested, and left it at that.

I went into the gym a couple more times that week, and she continued to bother me during my workouts. I told her point blank that I find it difficult to work out when someone wants to have a conversation with me. She would walk away and the next time she would do it again.

Finally, I asked the guys at the desk, if there was a way they could ask her to leave me alone. I was told that the trainers are not fully affiliated with the gym and that the gym doesn’t really have any authority over them. The next time I came in (the last time), I brought my large headphones thinking, if she sees those, she won’t bother me, right? She stood in front of my treadmill, waving. I waved back. She wouldn’t leave. I tried ignoring her for several minutes, until it was just too awkward, and I finally gave in. She tried to sell me her training services AGAIN. I asked at the desk, again, if anything could be done about this. They told me, no, and I gave up.

I found another gym, and wrote off the $400 I paid them!

Aside from all of this, I found the class offerings to be lacking for a Crunch gym, and they were often not offered at times that were convenient to me.

Since the rest of my dealings with them have been kind of shady, I decided to call a little over a month before my membership was going to expire to make sure it would not auto renew. Not only would it, but this is apparently not something they can cancel over the phone. I have to come in at times when the manager is there to explain to him why I want to cancel.

In a time when there is a new gym opening on every corner, I would advise doing your research, and looking for something less stressful...

This has to be one of the most ridiculous situations I have ever had to deal with. I have been trying to get in contact with one of the owners of this place for a while now. Im going to make a long story short. This place has scammed me out of thousands of dollars. I signed up in October of 2018 along with 3 months of personal training. I cancelled my membership in January 2019. Since then, 3 credit cards, and my debit card have been charged different transactions adding up to over $3,000. Including the most recent one, of $1,280 on July 5th. Remember, I haven't been a member there since January. I didn't notice the $40 a month from my debit card, and $40 a month on my American Express, but after that 1280 charge hit, I started looking deeper. I called this place to try to get in touch with one of the owners. Instead, the kid at the front desk gave me to a "manager" named Zach. I tried to calmly explain that I haven't been to that gym in 7 months and I haven't been a member since January, but my card got charged for $1280 7 months later. Zach's only explanation is "you singed up for personal training". My dude, that was almost a year ago and I singed up for 3 months. This "Zach" guy obviously has no authority at all, so why I was transferred to him I have no idea. I said "Zach, bud, use your head. I haven't been to that place in over a half a year." Zach then proceeded to hang up on me. It goes a lot deeper. They charged me for 3 months of personal training after I stopped going back in January. I contested it with my credit card company since no one there was returning any phone calls or anything. My trainer stopped going to that gym before I was even down with my "3 months". I have so many texts from him warning me to get out of that place as fast as possible. Telling me to come to LA fitness with him. There are so many things that have happened its to much to put in writing as it gets very confusing. When I originally tried talking to the personal training manager "dan", he had been let go. So I went in there 4 more times after that but every time the new "manager" wasn't in. Thats when I cancelled me and my finances $40 a month memberships. That didn't matter though, come to find out they have been charging me regardless. I didn't notice until the $1280 just hit, 7 months after I cancelled my membership. Who ever the manager is named "Zach" needs to be super fired. He's obviously some stand in (probably very new to any kind of "management" position) who has no idea how to deal with people, or basic problem solving of any kind. I have never been talked to so poorly by a company that I am a customer to and that I have spent a lot of money with. Thats not counting him hanging up on me like a 5 year old just because he didn't know how to handle a situation. I explained to him that I am working on filing a lawsuit for monies taken without authorization, and he said it'd be a waste of money. Again, my dude, we haven't been members there for over half a year. you've over charged me thousands. Zach never called me back. What a shame. Now mind you, I haven't received a single phone call, email, text, or any form of telepathy since I cancelled. They just kept on charging. I can keep on going but that would be redundant. There are so many other issues I have had with them....

Sucks. Not for the serious trainer. I knew this going in , so thankfully i signed up for the $17.99 a month deal so i can cancel anytime without penalty (so they say, we will see). It doesn’t matter when you go , you will never get the equipment you need (example, One smith machine , and its angled which is stupid to begin with ) Three cable crossovers , but always taken. If you are lucky , one side might be open , sometimes on a couple stations, but these kids have no gym ettiquete and won’t move to another station when they only need one side , and they don’t know what letting someone work in means. But they do have hundreds of pieces of cardio , many never being used. So that’s a huge waste of money and space. To put it in perspective , it’s Planet Fitness with some weights, and caters to kids who think they are monsters (140 pound monsters) and old people who are cardio kings and queens. Skip this place.

It’s been this way since they opened. Hey James , Hey Adam. The place is packed , the money is pouring in , how about adding a few smith machines. Vertical smith machines. And maybe a few more movable benches ??? Every bench is bolted down except one , so if you need that one bench and the one smith , forget it.

Who maintains the equipment ? Hasn’t anyone noticed you put the wrong pulley system on one side of the center cable crossover station??? It makes the two pulleys way off center , rendering it useless. The cable drags and is dangerous , will cause premature wear and breakage. Most likely the cause of the broken cable in one of the reviews below.

And turn the fan down. i get that it is supposed to move the heat back down , but it’s too powerful, so it causes a nasty cold breeze. You need to bundle up on that half of the gym.

Pluses ? Olympic bars with thin grip. A decent number of squat racks and...
